For future possible reference, R.H. had a brother named William S. Newell (1839-May 4, 1896). See Obituary Record, The New York Times (5 May 1896). This obituary listing for William S. Newell includes an address of 128 First Place, Brooklyn, which is same address at which R.H. died in 1901. NYTimes reports of R.H.'s death in 1901 report that his sister-in-law (with whom he lodged) was Mrs. William S. Newell. W.S. obituary states that he was Secretary of German-American insurance company, where he had worked for 18 years before being appointed Secretary January 1, 1895. Also notes that W.S. was a graduate of Columbia College Law School, admitted to the bar in 1860. Another source [1] says he died of stomach cancer.
