Infobox and lede[edit]

  • "several unconnected sections" → "several disconnected sections"
    • Done.
  • In the infobox, the area is listed as 170 acres, which seems to just include the beach, if the boardwalk is really adjacent
    • NYC Parks characterizes the beach and boardwalk as a piece of parkland with area, rather than as just a linear feature. Sometimes this can result in unusual situations like a parkway, or even a road median, containing several acres of area. Epicgenius (talk) 19:00, 15 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Description[edit]

Boardwalk[edit]

  • The quote in the first sentence, out of context, feels off; I'd either remove it and link to the types of woods, or attribute it to a source
    • Done.

Beach[edit]

Park facilities[edit]

  • WL roller hockey and remove hyphen
    • Done.
  • A seal sculpture, also from Central Park, is also located on the boardwalk. The repetition of "also" here feels awkward
    • Reworded.
  • Remove parentheses in the last sentence and change to comma, for flow
    • Done.

Predecessors[edit]

  • "unconnected sections" → "disconnected sections"
    • Done.
  • In the second paragraph, you list "family houses, a hotel, and an 800-seat theater" but then use the singular "it" (which, now that I read it, could be referring to the boardwalk itself, but is still a bit confusing)
    • Reworded.
  • "in a 1892 fire" → "in an 1892 fire"
    • Done.

Expanded beach and boardwalk[edit]

Planning and first section[edit]

  • three options: a boardwalk without a road, as well as one with a narrow parkway and one with a narrow parkway just to make the three options immediately clear
    • I rephrased it. The three options were those without a road, with a narrow parkway, and with a wide parkway. Epicgenius (talk) 19:00, 15 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Connections between sections[edit]

  • "just as work on the second section of the boardwalk between Beach 75th and 56th Streets was to commence"
    • Done.
  • "since they had paid taxes for the boardwalk" → "since they had paid taxes for it"
    • Done.

Modifications[edit]

1930s through 1950s[edit]

  • Good

1970s through 2000s[edit]

  • in the late 1960s or early 1970s Is there a reason for the ambiguity of the dates?
    • This is because, at the time of the source article's publication, the repairs were made a few years ago, but the article does not specify. Epicgenius (talk) 19:00, 15 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • I don't think a wild dog attack qualifies as a crime
  • WL the first instance of New York Daily News
    • Done.

21st century reconstruction[edit]

  • Can you elaborate on the damage during Hurricane Irene?
    • Done.

Cultural impact[edit]

References[edit]

  • No surprise, generally looks fine
  • The New York Post is generally unreliable (although more reliable for local news & sports), so if another source exists and that one isn't needed, I'd switch it out
    • Done.

General comments[edit]

  • Stability looks good
  • Pictures all look good
  • Earwig turns up clean at 8.3%
