Maintenance tags

[edit]

Upon request, my rationale for the maintenance tags. I'm simply not sure of the reliability of the sources - that doesn't mean I don't think they're reliable, it means that I just don't know one way or the other. But even so, the notability tag is more based on the fact that I don't see any of the standard benchmarks that distinguish a band as notable. Why is this band notable? It may just be too soon - the article mentions an upcoming release, which if it's with a major label, makes them notable the instant it comes out. As for the POV tag, it's not exactly the one I wanted, but I couldn't think of a better one to express what I'm trying to say. I guess it's that I'm only seeing the positive reviews in the article, and in this genre, it's rare to see so little critique. But it's not actually promotional, just positive. - Jorgath (talk) (contribs) 23:36, 10 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

They've actually had two releases on Tooth & Nail Records, but one (American Dream) was an EP so it might not count (though both had notable producers). In any case, I'm pretty sure they at least meet WP:GNG due to all the sources covering them. As for the reliability of the sources, most of them are from AbsolutePunk, Alternative Press, and HM Magazine, all of which I'm pretty sure meet WP:RS (at least I've never had a problem with them before). The only times I intentionally used unprofessional sources were for a couple of interviews to source the band's opinion on some things.
As for the POV thing, I honestly wasn't intending that since I don't even particularly like this band. Most of the professional coverage of this band just happens to be positive, I guess. I've seen some comment threads and forums with people raging at them, but that's obviously nothing reliable or notable.--Invisiboy42293 (talk) 00:58, 11 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, I've got a compromise then. I'm going to remove the notability tag and replace the POV tag with a {{POV-check}} tag. You take a little more time to try to find balancing sources; if you can't, then you can't, and that's fine. You either add the sources if you find them or say here that you couldn't find any. Either way though, you or I can then remove the POV-check tag, because it'll have been checked for its neutrality. Deal? - Jorgath (talk) (contribs) 14:40, 12 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Deal. I haven't found any yet, but maybe some will turn up as the band gains more attention. BTW, do you happen to know why the page title is in italics?--Invisiboy42293 (talk) 19:56, 12 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Not a clue. That might be something for the Help Desk. I don't see anything that should be causing that. - Jorgath (talk) (contribs) 22:04, 12 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
