Third Opinion request[edit]

Your request for a Third Opinion has been removed due to the lack of sufficient discussion about the dispute. As stated at the Third Opinion project, "Before making a request here, be sure that the issue has been thoroughly discussed on the article talk page. 3O is only for assistance in resolving disagreements that have come to a standstill. If no agreement can be reached on the talk page and only two editors are involved, follow the directions below to list the dispute."

Though this is not a Third Opinion, I would note (as an ordinary editor and not as a Third Opinion Wikipedian) that the Wikipedia due weight policy says, "An article should not give undue weight to any aspects of the subject but should strive to treat each aspect with a weight appropriate to its significance to the subject. For example, discussion of isolated events, criticisms, or news reports about a subject may be verifiable and neutral, but still be disproportionate to their overall significance to the article topic." If the band which was to be added to the page (specifically, Soggy Toast) was itself notable, i.e. a band which has or could qualify to have its own Wikipedia page under the notability guideline for bands, then a mention of it on its hometown page might be appropriate, but short of that the fact that they're from Rocky Point (though that fact is reliably established by the band's Facebook page per this content guideline) is too insignificant to be included in an article about that place. At least that's my (non-Third) opinion.

Finally, I would remind both editors (without accusation, just a reminder) that the three revert rule does not have to be violated for an edit war to exist; making edits or reversions that you know will probably be reverted is enough to constitute an edit war and expose you to being blocked or banned.

If you still feel that you need dispute resolution for this matter, you might want to consider taking it to the content noticeboard or doing a request for comments. Regards, TRANSPORTERMAN (TALK) 16:29, 7 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I had attempted discussion through the other user's talk page. He simply deleted my message. I'm moving on to a RFC Request

Soggy Toast[edit]

There is an issue of wether or not a local band is notable enough for the page of it's hometown. I've tried discussing the matter with the user, who repeatedly adds his band onto the page, but my comments on his page are deleted. So I'm trying RFC to resolve the dispute. The text being disputed is illustrated by this diff. Regards, TRANSPORTERMAN (TALK) 19:16, 17 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • The editor who has been repeatedly, and under various usernames, asserting this edit has been indefinitely blocked for evasion of previous blocks and for disruptive conduct at this article. The RFC is no longer needed and I'm removing the RFC tag. If the conduct resumes under some other username, please report it to WP:ANI immediately.
