I like that "bad behaviour". What did he do? Throw paper darts in chapel? Andrew Dalby 17:24, 28 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Generally disobedient and unwilling to accept monastic discipline it seems. Angus McLellan (Talk) 21:13, 28 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Is there a citation for " Nineteenth-century historians relying too heavily on this one monk of ill repute popularised the notion that the people of the late tenth century lived in superstitious fear of apocalyptic nonevents."? That seems like a huge claim to have absolutely no source for. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.59.138.17 (talk) 00:58, 17 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

age

[edit]

Just thought I do a fact check. Why does the Catholic Encyclopedia say he was placed in the monastery at twenty and you have twelve? 00:59, 28 September 2006 (UTC)anonymous

I've just checked Glaber's History. He himself says twelve (I have added the reference to the article). Why the Catholic Encyclopedia says 20 I have no idea. Andrew Dalby 19:02, 28 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Contemporary activity

[edit]

I was reading the current article on the Church of the Holy Sepulchre and it contains this sentence, regarding the 1009 destruction of the site: "For example, Clunaic monk Raoul Glaber blamed the Jews, with the result that Jews were expelled from Limoges and other French towns." I'd love to read more about this -- any future editor or commentator who could shed some light would be greatly appreciated. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 46.116.106.67 (talk) 08:07, 12 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
