Request for sourcing

[edit]

This page started life as a Google translated version of the German Wikipedia article. I've added references since then but haven't yet put in the Japanese language references from that page or other equivalents. The biographical section in particular could use more sourcing, so I'd be grateful if anyone could help with adding those. Mortee (talk) 15:37, 20 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Japanese language sources

[edit]

Putting these here in the hope that Japanese speakers can make use of them. I've taken the first five from the German article because I'm closer to being able to parse that one. Naturally there's more detail on the Japanese page that could also be incorporated here.

I've since put three of these references in the article in the same places where the French and German articles did, but would still appreciate someone verifying that they support the claims they're attached to (I've tried with Google Translate but can't be totally confident) Mortee (talk) 23:07, 20 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Missing citations

[edit]

Softlavender (talk · contribs) pointed out that the dates didn't seem to add up, as they showed his parents divorcing 15 years before his birth. His birth year is cited plenty. The divorce year looks like a mistake in the French and German articles. The Japanese one says (per Google Translate) that they divorced when he was 5, but they've added 5 to his mother's year of birth instead of his. So, fixed that but the divorce date still needs citing. It must be in one of the Japanese sources, but the Japanese article doesn't do inline references.

Similarly, his birth name has been marked as needing a citation. It's bolded in the Japanese article but again, I don't know which is the right source to quote. Searching for the Japanese finds other pages about him and it's given on Discogs [7] too, but that's not reliable. This page says "Misao" and doesn't give the Japanese form. So, another request for a Japanese speaker to help clear this up. Mortee (talk) 06:38, 21 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Also, the English reference for his birthdate only gives the year. If someone could confirm that [8] gives the full date (the Japanese reference used inline at the end of the sentence here, copied from Germany and France), that'd be great. Mortee (talk) 06:46, 21 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Consider moving this article to Rofū Miki

[edit]

Rofū Miki is standard Western name order, and also is by far the most common order on Google. Here is the Google-result breakdown:

Miki Rofu
Miki Rofū
Rofu Miki
Rofū Miki

Double searches:

Surname first
Surname last

Also, it is disorienting to read an article that mentions his name more than once, and find what appears from the full name to be his forename being used to refer to him thenceforth. I have therefore used Rofū Miki on the article Akatombo. -- Softlavender (talk) 08:08, 27 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Sure. I used Miki Rofū because it's a more direct approximation of the Japanese and having looked at WP:JTITLE it allows for either, depending on what's most common in academia and encylopedias, so I went with the order in the references I ended up using. Since the reverse is clearly used too (thank you for the figures) and changing would match Kosaku Yamada, I don't object to changing. Certainly this page and Akatombo should use the same order, especially if they're going to feature in a WP:Did You Know together (thank you again for that nomination). I'll make the move. @Softlavender: I've made the move and updated incoming links. If you could take a pass through the article to make sure I haven't missed anything, that would be great. Mortee (talk) 23:47, 27 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
