Talk:Roger Williams (Texas politician)

The current title has two problems:

  1. Wikipedia prefers "U.S." to "US", and
  2. Williams died nearly a hundred years before there was a United States of America.

This article should describe Williams first and foremost as the founder of Rhode Island, and the first great advocate of the separation of Church and State in the American colonies. He began the settlement at Providence, and obtained the royal charter for the Rhode Island colony.

The points are valid. However, there is already a Roger Williams (theologian), so I will merge this shorter article into that one. Chris the speller 17:37, 29 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, Wikipedia prefers consistency across "U.S." vs "US". Manual of Style. Ive been through this recently. This page has it. Rklahn (talk) 02:08, 24 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Perry Administration[edit]

This section has no citations and reads like a political advertisement. For example: "Williams worked to promote economic development, investment, and job creation in Texas. He was also Perry's chief liaison to Mexico and the Border Region of Texas. In this capacity, he worked with Mexican federal, state, and local officials on common issues." This excerpt has the wording of a politically biased passage. Phrases like "common issues", "job creation", and "economic development" are empty, uncountable qualities since there aren't citations. Did Roger Williams create 1 job? 100,000 jobs? Does appointing a bunch of interns to read his email count? What does common issues even mean? They both like dogs? Both jog in the mornings? Both like their coffee with a bit of cream and no sugar? Internot (talk) 16:54, 25 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Recent controversy[edit]

Rep. Williams has come up in a recent high profile controversy. It's sufficiently high enough profile that I wont even mention what it is. While its always hard to come to the conclusion that a current event is encyclopedic, I think this one makes it. I would make the edit, but I lack a neutral point of view. I invite others to consider making the edit. Rklahn (talk) 02:18, 24 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Revision 969246317 is an example of something I was talking about. It's pretty close to where I would have gone, and why I wont make the edit myself. Im going to undo Revision 969246317 for its obvious lack of a neutral point of view. I still invite others to consider making the edit. Rklahn (talk) 15:49, 24 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Roger Williams Tracker[edit]

I cannot edit the main page, because I helped someone run against Roger Williams. But I keep a webpage with a bunch of Roger Williams related links and information, with citations. It could be useful to anyone wanting to edit this page.
