Titles and dioceses[edit]

This section is written from a viewpoint which is way too close. There is no background and no explanation. The chronology jumps around, and it is difficult to follow what is happening to the five dioceses being brought together. Maybe the section is trying to do too much. Why this shuffling is going on is completely ignored. It seems that a start was begun with Guiscard, but the importance of the Norman take-over of the Kingdom of Naples, and then the Imperial activities of Frederick I and Frederick II (in opposition to the popes), and the Angevin conquest in the 1260's (and the support of the French popes for the French conquerors), and the Sicilian Vespers of 1282 (and the reaction against the French), are completely missed. And let's not get into the Aragonese take-over of the Kingdom of Naples. -- Vicedomino (talk) 23:45, 19 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
