Feedback[edit]

The article needs some work. The primary issue is that there are very few good sources about Mr. Diamond - just this one [[1]] as far as I can see. I'd also reorganize it into early life, career, filmography and personal life sections. The company work could be subsections in the career section. Also, the section titles need to be sentence case, not all title case. TimTempleton (talk) (cont) 01:06, 11 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for taking the time to look. I'll keep going with it. Katherine311MH (talk) 02:44, 11 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Tim. When you have a moment I would appreciate your thoughts on this draft. Thank you for your time! Katherine311MH (talk) 12:25, 24 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Formatting publications[edit]

@Katherine311MH:, thought I would answer here, so you have the info in one place. Here are ideas. Look at WP:CITETOOL, tons of good info. Under Templates, this is the one that may help:

By formatting the books in this manner, you don't need a ref/source/citation, and you can rmv the refs that you have now. I hope this helps! Not surprised that you ran out of energy, you have done a great deal of good work here! Good luck! Tribe of Tiger Let's Purrfect! 21:23, 31 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Also, read WP:PING, paragraph three. If you wanted Tim to answer, you should notify him. It would look like this {{u|Timtempleton}}. Same if you want me to see a msg here. I sent you a "ping" to this page, so you would know I had anwered.Tribe of Tiger Let's Purrfect! 21:38, 31 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Very helpful. Thank you so much, I really appreciate your time and energy here!
You are very welcome! Don't forget about WP:TEAHOUSE, which is both hosted and patrolled by experienced and helpful editors. I am honored that you approached me for assistance. Also, the Teahouse is a great place to get the attention of many people, one of whom may have the perfect answer/solution to your questions and problems. Please don't forget about the info that I posted above, regarding pings. If I had not made the choice to "watchlist" this talkpage, by pressing the tiny star icon at the top, I would not have known about your reply to me. There is so much to learn about WP...seems best to tell you about certain features, etc. Don't forget to sign All of your talkpage posts with the four tildes, good habit....
I am really a very minor sort of editor, so it was quite flattering to have you approach me. I must admit that I am curious as to why you chose to pose your specific question to me! Best wishes, Tribe of Tiger Let's Purrfect! 23:55, 31 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, I forgot the tilde, bad habit. I chose you because you were so nice to another newbie, and you are polite and kind to everyone on your talk page. I appreciate the kindness as it is not present everywhere on here! Tribe of Tiger Katherine311MH (talk) 00:13, 1 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks so much for the kind words. I am touched. There are, of course, instances when one must be quite firm with a new editor, who is rushing headlong into disaster, and creating problems. I think the worst problem WP faces now are COI/POV editors. (Oh my, the tales these pages could tell!) My observation is that most new editors are sincerely trying to do a good job, and just need a friendly word of advice or encouragement. My best wishes to you,Tribe of Tiger Let's Purrfect! 03:46, 1 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I am trying to help format his book publication, work in progress....It is best to show the IBSN number, rather than a ref/cite to a book-selling website, which is frowned upon as promoting the commercial sale of items. This is understandable, as I am sure you will agree. Will continue to try to help, here. Here is a good example of how it should look: Yoshiko Iwamoto Wada, under Publications. @Katherine311MH:, sending a ping, so I can be sure you read the notes I made, just above. Tribe of Tiger Let's Purrfect! 23:07, 5 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you so much! Any help with this is so appreciated. The new citation looks good, although he is listed as the author here? https://www.amazon.com/Animation-Directors-Perspective-Vol/dp/1138067075

and here: https://www.routledge.com/On-Animation-The-Directors-Perspective-Vol-2/Diamond/p/book/9781138066564 What are your thoughts on those DVD collections he curated? Not books but definitely work of merit...publications? Katherine311MH (talk) 23:29, 5 September 2020 (UTC)Tribe of Tiger[reply]

I am stymied here! It does seem that curating/editing a DVD collection is "of worth", but I have never dealt with this sort of publication/format, from a WP standpoint. Will give consideration. Even if we could not figure out what to do about this, just now, I don't see that the formatting, etc., presents a dire problem. The main issue is if he is "notable" by WP standards, as supported by good secondary sources. That is what gets an article accepted! After the notability is proved, proper formatting of "publications/works" is something that can be dealt with later, IMO. I think that Publications (print media) should be changed to Works (various media), frankly. And I will make the change, which you can alter, of course. Best, Tribe of Tiger Let's Purrfect! 23:59, 5 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I had already written the above info, and posted it before I had read your notes above, per authorship.
So, I need to think about this, also. The ISBN seems to state Sito as author, but the commercial site states Diamond. Not sure what to do, here. But we can figure it out.Tribe of Tiger Let's Purrfect! 00:10, 6 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Works makes sense to me, thanks. Ron Diamond is notable in the animation world; there are several comparable bios on here to compare him to. Is that something that needs to be presented somewhere?Katherine311MH (talk) 00:22, 6 September 2020 (UTC)Tribe of Tiger[reply]
Yes, if you could refer me to samples of similar bios, that might help. I am exploring, and working.
Also, if you wish someone to see your reply, on ANY TALKPAGE (and get a notification, or "ping", which tells them to come over and see your comments, etc.), you must put their name, first, or somewhere in the paragraph, and then, at the end of the note, sign your name. It is the combination, of addressing one or more, editors, in this fashion:{{u|Tribe of Tiger}}, and SIGNING with the four tildes at the end, that alerts the WP computer system to send a notification/ping to the person you are addressing. So, looking at the above, you would write the Tribe of Tiger part first: {{u|Tribe of Tiger}}, as a salutation, perhaps, and then sign your name with the four tildes, as you obviously know how to do. See WP:PING, third paragraph, for more info. Will be offline, for an hour or so, hope this is helpful.Tribe of Tiger Let's Purrfect! 01:00, 6 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Tribe of Tiger Hopefully this will work for pinging. Thanks for your continued patience.

Thinking about the book, Ron Diamond created and edited it (so it says on the cover) and Tom Sito and Bill Kroyer conducted the interviews. So, It does make sense that Ron is the author as he lined up the directors and put it all together. I had a question about the DVDs — as per your suggestion I asked at the teahouse and they sent me a link to follow (I will get to soon!).

To sum up notability: Ron Diamond owns and oversees (executive produces) a 30 year old successful animation company that has its own section at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences archive. He’s won multiple awards for producing (including an Oscar nomination). He created an animation industry magazine that has been in business for 25 years. Finally, he created an international animation festival (some might argue the most famous) that has been running over 22 years. Interviews with him (and about his projects) have been conducted by many sources, including Variety, Los Angeles Times, LA Business Journal, Animation Magazine, New York Times, etc.

Here’s a list of people in the industry who have Wikipedia pages but have done less:

@0mtwb9gd5wx: Thanks. There is so much information about Mr. Diamond, I think I've added too much. I want to whittle it down a bit before publishing; any help offered is appreciated.

Consolidating sources[edit]

Hi, GreenBlueGreen, I took the liberty of consolidating sources used more than once on this bio. I did remove one, a ref to another Wikipedia article, which is not considered to be a reliable source-- if there is a citation on that WP page that supports the text on this bio, it's okay to use that same source, just not the Wikipedia article. I also sent a query to Graham87 regarding moving this article to the title currently occupied by the redirect, without losing edit history for either page. There is probably a simple solution, but I haven't dealt with this before. − Are we having fun, yet? Grand'mere Eugene (talk) 21:47, 14 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Grand'mere Eugene, THANK YOU! I am so grateful for your help. I've struggled with this overwhelming content for quite a while, so I'm very happy to have your patient guidance. There aren't enough barn stars for your mantle! GreenBlueGreen (talk) 12:28, 15 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
