Studies

[edit]

Roseto was the subject of a series of very-well known sociological and epidemiological studies due to the fact that from the 50s to the 70s residents seemed to be immune to heart disease because of their social integration. Some note of these studies should be made, or at least a link to information about them. Most people in the world, if they hear of Roseto, it is in this context. Here is a citation to the first study in the series.

Stout C, Morrow J, Brandt EN, Wolf S. Study of an Italian-American community in PA; unusually low incidence of death from myocardial infarction. JAMA. 1964; 188:845

The reference from Outliers actually appears to be a reference to the book, since Bruhn is mentioned, by Stewart Wolf and John G. Bruhn:

Wolf, Stewart & Bruhn, John G . The Roseto Story: An Anatomy of Health. Univ of Oklahoma Pr, 1979. Print. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Claessen (talkcontribs) 20:32, 30 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
