Lawsuit

[edit]

Langenscheidt's successfully sued RS for copyright infringement. Shouldn't this be mentioned, even if having acopyright on a color, so to speak, is a bit strange? Kdammers (talk) 08:48, 21 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The legal dispute wasn't about a copyright. You cannot copyright a color. Langenscheidt have registered a trademark of the color yellow in the context of learning languages. Their dictionaries, language courses, and other products are all yellow, and everyone in Germany who has ever used a dictionary will recognize immediately that a language product was published by Langenscheidt by its yellow color. Besides Pons (whose products are green), Langenscheidt (yellow) is one of the two largest and most popular publishers of language learning products in Germany. Langenscheidt wanted to protect this brand recognition. Alexander Gras (talk) 07:33, 7 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

German Wik

[edit]

With the change in editing protocol, I don't know how to put in language links. This article should be linked to the German page Rosetta Stone (Unternehmen).Kdammers (talk) 08:51, 21 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

What about buying Livemocha?

[edit]

This article mentions that Rosetta Stone bought Livemocha, but not that Livemocha was then closed down. Can someone share the purpose of buying it and then closing it? Without more information, I conclude it was to kill the competition. DBlomgren (talk) 16:47, 25 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

immersion

[edit]

In the History part there is a referral to Language immersion, which in my opinion is completely wrong. "Language Immersion" in Wikipedia "is a technique used in bilingual language education in which two languages are used for instruction in a variety of topics". The immersion referred to at RS is something else, as described for example here: https://blog.rosettastone.com/the-mechanics-of-immersion/ or here: https://blog.rosettastone.com/dynamic-immersion-learning-with-rosetta-stone/. In essence, it means you immerse yourself into the new language, not that you immerse to languages together.

This should be corrected. Rehud (talk) 04:27, 29 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
