Merge

[edit]

Is this the same as Ross River Fever? If so this looks to be the better of the two but the other may be the correct name. Either way I don't have the skills to do the merge as I know nothing about them. CambridgeBayWeather (Talk) 21:35, 1 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • I'm no doctor. But colloquially in Australia the two terms seem to be interchangeable. A merger would really need medical science advice, but it sounds good to me. I was going to suggest it myself. Alpheus (talk) 23:52, 9 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

They arnt the same. Ross River Virus relates to the viral effects, while Ross River Fever is the name for the disorder as an entity. Sorry if that doesnt make sense, but i am actually suffereing from Ross River Fever at the moment :P. My opinion is to combine the Ross River Virus article and make it a section in the Ross River Fever article. Kiran 13:06, 14 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose. The virus is not the disease (just as MalariaPlasmodium. I would prefer to keep such articles seperate and attempt to try and set this as standard throughout wikipedia. This will allow infectious agents to be classified per taxonomic/phylogeny -- while diseases are classified according to medical classifications (WHO, MeSH etc.). I think there is sufficient information already present/available to justify two seperate small articles with some rigourous cleanering uppering. --ZayZayEM (talk) 06:37, 28 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose. The distinction is 1) the virus, a living organism and 2) the illness. Just like mycobacterium tuberculosis and tuberculosis. I'm taking the tag down as it has been up a long time and no consensus. ROxBo (talk) 11:17, 13 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
