What is it made of?[edit]

What is it made out of? Steel? Iron? — Omegatron 00:53, 15 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Also another thing, did the extruded bullet really replace the cannonball at the end of the 1700s? AllStarZ 21:31, 11 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Small arms[edit]

A question of definition: I have never heard of small arms ammunition being described as round shot (only as "ball"). Is there any reference for round shot including small arms ammunition? Cyclopaedic (talk) 14:50, 10 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Now made this change. Cyclopaedic (talk) 17:52, 11 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Also, other forms of ammunition are given a hyphen, eg case-shot. Cyclopaedic (talk) 14:50, 10 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Ball with explosives ?[edit]

This article uses the word Cannonball. It implies it is a round shell.

Experts suspect White was killed while trying to disarm a 9-inch, 75-pound naval cannonball, a particularly potent explosive with a more complex fuse and many times the destructive power of those used by infantry artillery.
