Platform

[edit]

Neither given source of these edits substantiates that she was criticized about not knowing the party platform. The iowapolitics.com doesn't mention a platform and in the chat she answeres that she doesn't discuss the platform because it will be adopted in June and doesn't answer a follow-up about the 2008 platform, and that's all that happens. If actual criticism appears it should be sourced by a reliable source and identify who makes the criticism. So far the sentence is original research. Hekerui (talk) 11:59, 4 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Just adding links does not make reliable sourcing. The three additional links besides the live chat used to make original research, have nothing about Conlin's platform position in them. Hekerui (talk) 06:50, 9 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Listen to the forum. She's asked a question regarding the platform, to which she responds that there is no platform until the June 12, 2010 state convention. Pretty simple. The iowapolitics.com reference contains the mp3 of the forum (they were co-sponsors of the event), but I've also included a direct link now as well. "Unfamilarity" is original research. Produce a reliable source (independent of the subject, third party, published) where her "unfamiliarity" is discussed. The links to the party platform serve no purpose. Conlin answered about the party platform in force when the election for which she is running happens - if the questioner wanted a better answer he/she should have asked a more precise question and mentioned the 2008 Iowa Democratic platform or the 2008 national platform. No, she didn't. At the time she was running in the primary (when the questions were put to her). She claimed the platform had not been adopted, when it actually had been in force since 2008. She chose to duck the questions on two separate occasions, she's on record making the statement. Cheers!--averagejoe (talk) 23:34, 9 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Can you point to the chat part where she was asked about a 2008 platform and answered about it? It's not there. And how obsessed with minor details can one be? Hekerui (talk) 07:12, 10 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
She was asked about "The" platform, not about some mythical, speculative platform. Minor details? I'm thinking you've never been involved in the platform process, but it certainly isn't "minor". This candidate chose to run as a Democrat, so the question of where she stands on the platform isn't minor by any sane analysis. Cheers!--averagejoe (talk) 00:58, 11 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
