disputed discovery
[edit]User:Firebrace I think its ok to write, that the claim the wreck was first discovered in 2018 by the "Shinil Group" is disputed by the Korea Institute of Ocean Science and Technology claiming a to have found it back in 2003 [1] as pointed out by User:Of 19 [2] Which includes the information about a newly launched crypto currency by "Shinil Group" and the warning of the South Korean finance ministry. - This is not a tabloid, we are not here to help this crypto currency group promote their exchange through repeating their dubious claims. Add it to the Advance-fee scam in a month, certainly keep this out of the lead considering there are still no reliable sources on the matter. Of 19 (talk) 18:48, 19 July 2018 (UTC)
- They published photos of the wreck and claimed to have found it. Thats a well documented fact. It may be disputed that they were the first ones to find the ship and the gold-story may be a scam, but you cant jut erase the entire July 2018 storyline from the article. Alexpl (talk) 18:56, 19 July 2018 (UTC)
- The gold story is almost certainly a scam as the amount of gold claimed to be aboard is about three times the ship's displacement.--Sturmvogel 66 (talk) 19:23, 19 July 2018 (UTC)
- Reuters says the new photos are stamped as 2007. [3] Of 19 (talk) 19:35, 19 July 2018 (UTC)
- So it looks like we get a story about a 2018 scam, in an article about a ship that sunk in 1905. Alexpl (talk) 19:59, 19 July 2018 (UTC)
