Pronoun usage vis a vis ships[edit]

The sometimes contentious squabble regarding the usage of "it" or "she" in reference to ships is problematic when addressing Russian ships. In Russian usage all references to warships use the masculine pronoun, usually best translated as "it". Non-warships are normally referred as vessels vice ships and use the neuter pronoun. The use of the feminine pronoun "she" appears to stem from British usage and has carried over into American usage. If anyone uses a Russian reference and engages in translation the result will always be "it" rather than "she".Moryak (talk) 18:07, 21 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
