May 2021

[edit]

Ryūden has been issued a three-tournament suspension which is retroactive to the May tournament. I notice that the Japanese wikipedia article has a citation note inside their version of the sumo box markup, indicating that he was originally kyūjō but the Sumo Association later changed it to a suspension. Is it possible to do the same thing inside the English version of the sumo box? I could also ask, is it necessary in our case? For now I've added a footnote at the very end. Thanks, JRHorse (talk) 12:25, 27 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Just converting the "small" markup you used to a "ref" format and placing it in May 2021 in the table would do that. I originally put "kyujo" in the May box before our IP friend changed it to "suspended", jumping the gun as always. Now that it's been officially confirmed as a retroactive suspension I don't think it's necessary to mention the initial kyujo. One other small nitpick - he will definitely be in makushita by September so that should probably be shown as 0-0-7.-- P-K3 (talk) 13:11, 27 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you very much. Could you please help with the ref tag placement in the table? I cannot seem to figure it out, even if I place the ref tag in a similar manner as on the Japanese side. Absent any objections, I would also support changing the record to 7 absences for September if that seems to be the case... the news article certainly alludes to that. I do note the Japanese wikipedia has him listed at 0-0-15 for the three suspended tournaments. Perhaps they are waiting for the November bankzuke to change the record? JRHorse (talk) 14:56, 27 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I've moved the ref. "0-0-15" is the default display, so on reflection it might be best to follow the ja wiki and leave it as it is, until his demotion to makushita is confirmed, per CRYSTAL.-- P-K3 (talk) 15:34, 27 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
