The result of the move request was: no consensus, but the question should probably revisited in the future. Arbitrarily0 (talk) 21:23, 7 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

– Ryan Day the football coach is clearly the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC as evidenced by page views page views (with the coach averaging 9x more views than the other Ryan Days and the disambiguation page combined) and Google searches "Ryan Day" football 1.6 million, "Ryan Day" snooker 156,000, "Ryan Day" "attack attack" 2300 (the name of Ryan Day the musician's band). • Comment. Here's the link to the previous RM, which I closed: Talk:Ryan Day (snooker player)#Requested move 9 July 2019wbm1058 (talk) 20:33, 21 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose. Well, sure the Ohio State coach will get more page views during the week before the Game against that Team Up North. For a more fair comparison, check out the page views during the snooker season – not so clear there's a primary topic in the spring! Primary topics need to be primary on a 365-day and worldwide basis. The snooker player is currently #16 in the snooker world rankings (ya gotta scroll down pretty far to find the one American player on that list). I get pinged every time an editor links to the Ryan Day disambiguation page; this happens quite often. I disambiguate these links, if nobody else did before I saw them, and it's like toss a coin whether the link I need to disambiguate was created by an American intending the coach or someone, probably from the UK, intending the player. I was already considering the American football season and the snooker season. Over the course of the ENTIRE YEAR of November 2022 through October 2023, Ryan Day the coach had roughly 10x the page views as Ryan Day the snooker player. That’s as close as primary topic as it gets especially when adding in roughly a 10x difference in Google hits as well. Frank Anchor 23:26, 21 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
No. That's not as "close as it gets". Paul Brown is much closer. 1200 links vs. eleven. – wbm1058 (talk) 18:40, 7 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose per Wbm1058. This is also a slightly novel case because the snooker player is strong primary topic in the UK while the football coach appears to be so in the US. As such, it's hard to pick a winner in long-term significance. Overall, the status quo is absolutely fine.  — Amakuru (talk) 16:28, 22 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support football coach is clear primary topic. LEPRICAVARK (talk) 21:00, 25 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support per reasons given by Frank Anchor. Football coach is clearly the primary topic and based on page view data, it's not very close to debatable. Mannytool (talk) 23:50, 27 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose per wbm1058 and Amakuru. The football coach does not appear to have longterm primacy over the combined notability of the snooker player and the redirect to Attack! Attack! (Welsh band). —Roman Spinner (talkcontribs) 00:40, 4 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose short term page views are a poor measure of long-term significance when one topic is temporarily in the spotlight. (t · c) buidhe 08:27, 7 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Just another point to consider: The football coach has ~200 internal links, while the snooker player has ~600 internal links – three times as many! wbm1058 (talk) 15:34, 7 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
