Comments[edit]

  • Ryde Pier is a listed structure which is the fourth longest in the United Kingdom, and also the oldest. Could this sentence be rewritten to make it clearer? Where is it listed? fourth longest pier or fourth longest what? Oldest pier? Or what?
  • At one time Ryde had two piers; the other being the Victoria Pier. According to the Ryde pier article, it had at least 3 piers at one time and still has two ???
  • if the twin spires are so well known, why are they not mentioned in the article?
  • I do not understand the section on carnivals. Is the word carnival being used in more than one sense in this section? --Filll 14:03, 15 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
    • TODO - Remove the link to image of St. Anne's Church - this is in New South Wales, AU60.240.202.121 (talk) 05:33, 14 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your constructive suggestions. In order:
  • I have clarified this.
  • It's complicated. More about this needs to go in Ryde pier, not here as this article is correct as it stands.
  • I have removed the POV text.
  • Carnival is now linked to a suitable explanation page. it is only used in one sense and that is the sense linked.

Governmental place names missing[edit]

My understanding is that Ryde was a village, then a town within the civil parish of Newchurch from 1 July 1837 until the Borough of Ryde was formed on 1 January 1868. In March 1933 the boundaries of Ryde Borough were expanded. 2602:304:CDA6:51B0:2C61:F1E4:D3F:7B91 (talk) 23:35, 3 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

That may well be true. If you can cite sources for this, feel free to add it. Naturenet | Talk 12:00, 4 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
