- ... that although used as the weather vane of a church, the Söderala vane (pictured) was probably originally made for a Viking ship? Source: Source (in Swedish)
- ALT1:... that the Viking Age Söderala vane (pictured) has been buckled as a result of considerable violence, possibly during a battle? Source: Link, pp. 16-17 (in Swedish)

- Interesting piece of art, on few but good sources, Swedish sources accepted AGF, no copyvio obvious. I find the original easier to follow. The image is licensed and spares us many words. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 14:37, 14 March 2021 (UTC)
Question
[edit]Based on the file name (& info about the original image at Commons) shouldn't the caption read "Modern copy of the Söderala vane"? (Maybe some future Wikimedian can take a picture of the original for use in the various Wikipedias?)-- llywrch (talk) 15:09, 6 April 2021 (UTC)
- I made the article and the DYK, I didn't realise the picture was of a copy. I was unfortunately away when the DYK appeared. Anyway, I've changed the picture to one of the actual weather vane now. Yakikaki (talk) 11:10, 11 April 2021 (UTC)
Dimensions
[edit]I see no indications anywhere of the size of the object, whether it's three or eighteen inches wide or somewhere in between, do any of the sources specify it? – Athaenara ✉ 23:21, 6 April 2021 (UTC)
