Prefix S.S. not applicable to Portuguese Ships

The Portuguese liners never used the prefix SS (SS has no meaning in Portuguese). They used the prefix N/T (Transport Ship)altougth popularly be known only by its name.

All of our sources tell us that the prefix was SS, and you cannot provide a source as such (or haven't so far), so therefore it will remain SS until you can bring up an adequate, trustworthy reference that states the prefix of the ship while under Portuguese ownership was NT. 1Matt20 15:58, 22 November 2011 (UTC)

First. The ship his Portuguese therefore you should use portuguese sources (and there's no portuguese source that ever use the SS prefix). Google "N/T Prícipe Perfeito" and you see it. So I would like you to explain what the prefix S.S. stands in Portuguese Language (I am Portuguese and I dont know what it means).

Anyway, I've written a mail to the the director of the Portuguese Nautical School to to clarify this.

Dear Matt. I'm afraid but you didn't understand my question! I didn'y ask what SS stands for in ENGLISH! I've ask what SS stands for in PORTUGUESE. pt:N/T Príncipe Perfeito was a Portuguese Ship, not an American one. Do you want me to translate steamship to Portuguese or something? Otherwise I really, really don't see the point of telling you what it means in Portuguese, especially if you claim that "Ameircan prefixes can't be put on it." I'll tell you what, if you can find an article about a ship on the English Wikipedia that uses the prefix "NT", I'll change it right away. 1Matt20 03:10, 26 November 2011 (UTC)
