Untitled[edit]

I remember there has been a certain amount of controversy regarding the school due to Mr. Saïd's arms deals. Can anyone provide some information on this for the article? LJade728 19:12, 30 March 2006 (UTC) Thanks Marcika! LJade728 19:16, 3 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

How's this?

I've also taken out "anticapitalist" from the description of the protests, because it's not really accurate - anticapitalists were in a definite minority among those people protesting about the opening of the business school

why was whatever you wrote removed? 163.1.130.174 17:12, 17 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

There is very little in this article about the history of this school. As I understand it, its creation was very controversial at Oxford and most of the dons there opposed its creation. JimFarm (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 23:11, 7 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Infobox image[edit]

There is no justification for using the university logo in the infobox here. The logo is for the university as a whole, and so is only properly used on the main article for the university. The logo can only be used under a claim of fair use, as it is copyrighted, and it would need a much better justification than any given to date to make it proper to use it here. Please do not readd the university logo without discussion. BencherliteTalk 00:17, 31 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The business school has its own logo, though, which incorporates the university one. Perhaps that would be more appropriate for the infobox? --194.98.58.121 (talk) 13:30, 9 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

SBS website[edit]

I've just gone through the article and removed several entire sections that were complete, or almost complete, copies of sections of the SBS website. This is a breach of copyright, and mustn't be repeated. Furthermore, using SBS material for large chunks of the article (a) risks the entry using a promotional tone, rather than encyclopedic language, and (b) tends to show that some of the sections are of trivial general interest, since they haven't been covered in sources that are independent of the school. Furthermore, a section on "transport links" to Oxford is inappropriate as Wikipedia is not a travel guide. BencherliteTalk 18:19, 11 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Once again, I've removed copyvio/promotional material added to the article by anonymous users editing from IP addresses registered to Oxford University. If the only source for something is the school's website, it may not be worth including; if it is worth including, don't copy and paste. BencherliteTalk 12:17, 6 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed correction Wafic Saïd[edit]

I work for Wafic Saïd and would like to propose an amendment to a reference to him on this page. I understand that, given my professional role, there may be a perceived conflict of interest so I am making this suggestion for consideration on the "talk" page. It is factually inaccurate to say the Mr Saïd's wealth "is partly derived from advising on defense related contracts between the UK and Saudi-Arabia, in particular the Al-Yamamah arms deal". The only defence deal Mr Saïd is associated with is the signing of the Al Yamamah contract. Mr Saïd's successful business career in Saudi Arabia, the source of the overwhelming majority of his wealth, was derived from civil contracts. I would propose to replace the reference to his wealth with "Mr Saïd was associated with the UK's signing of the Al Yamamah defence contract with Saudi Arabia." I would value any comments on my suggestion. Thank you. Syadieh (talk) 10:53, 4 April 2016 (UTC) As no comments have been received I am going ahead with the proposed change. Thank you. Well, clear COI, but at least declared here in an elegant way. Zezen (talk) 09:41, 24 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
