"Cree Nation"[edit]

this usage "Additionally, the Cree Nation maintains two groups of elected officials:" is confusing; this isn't the only Cree Nation, that term usually means all Cree peoples. should it say the name of the amalgamated Saddle Lake/Watsanow government, whatever it is (I'll have to read more, maybe the term is on their site(s))?Skookum1 (talk) 06:06, 2 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

"boarding school" = "residential school"?[edit]

Just wondering re this addition as to whether that was something other than a residential school or some other kind of boarding school. To me that terms differ vastly in meaning/connotation.Skookum1 (talk) 15:55, 5 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Depending on the time of its existance, it went by differnt names:

Hospice of St. Joseph (Lac la Biche Boarding School)
Sacred Heart Indian Residential School (Saddle Lake Boarding School)
Blue Quill's Indian Residential School (St. Paul's Boarding School)

It was still called by its old name of "Hospice of St. Joseph" and informally as the "Lac la Biche Boarding School" when it moved from Lac la Biche to Blue Quill's in 1898, but it didn't officially change its name to "Sacred Heart Indian Residential School" until 1902, but by that time it was commonly called the "Saddle Lake Boarding School". The school again moved in 1931. It also made history by becoming the first Residential School to then become a Native-administered school in Canada in 1970. But looking at the List of Indian residential schools in Canada, I see we have a few entry problems that need adjusting. Oh, one other note. "Residential Schools" are a collection of "Boarding Schools" and "Industrial Schools", so, a boarding school is a residential school, but a residential school may or may not be a boarding school.
