Expanding Safe to Sleep Article to Include Worldwide View

[edit]

Should edits to the article focus on encompassing a worldwide perspective of safe to sleep or should the article take a different direction and look at the cause of SIDS, adverse outcome of SIDS, and most importantly focus on the interventions in place for safe sleep for infants? My hope for the later direction is that if parents do a quick google search for "safe sleep" and this article pops up they will find much more informative information regarding safe sleep practices as compared to a review of various practices. I would appreciate any advice and opinions on the subject! Thank you. Shussain96 (talk) 17:38, 3 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Work Plan to Edit Article

[edit]

My plan to improve this article is as follows. I will begin by improving the lead section, establishing a clear introductory sentence that states the goal of the article. I also want the lead section to summarize the context of the article. Therefore, I plan to move the discussion of the campaign to the body of the article (the campaign section specifically). I want to edit the campaign sub-section to provide for clarity and increased ease for our readers. My goal for the campaign sub-section is to discuss the goal of the back to sleep campaign. I then plan to create another heading under which I will discuss the medicine of SIDS. From there I will go into the bulk of the article which will be the discussion of the preventative measures and guidelines in place for infant sleep. My goal for these edits is to provide parents who read this article a credible, easy to read reference to answer their questions regarding safe sleep. I plan to use a variety of sources from research studies about SIDS and preventive measures for safe sleep and published AAP guidelines. Shussain96 (talk) 18:41, 3 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Shussain96: How goes it? Great to see it is getting expanded. The sources are likely covered by WP:MEDRS, so if you select a reference, it must a valid academic source, no consumer stuff. Hope that helps. scope_creepTalk 19:06, 3 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
