Talk:Safety-Critical Systems Club

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This page was created in 2009 but was never developed to provide any information about why the SCSC was created and how it serves the systems safety engineering community.

In 2016, after 25 years of existence, the operation of the SCSC has moved to the University of York and this page was no longer correct or relevant. It is being updated as fast as possible but, being a mainly volunteer organisation, it takes time so please be tolerant while it develops.

I apologise for editing under an anonymous IP address. I would be using my account SCSCBJ which I created specifically for this task but it has been blocked and I'm waiting for feedback on why.

Notability[edit]

I have serious doubts that this organization passes WP:GNG and/or WP:ORG. Of the five sources cited at this time one is affiliated, one is a dead link and one provides some reasonable coverage of the organization. The remaining two appear to provide only trivial/passing references to the club. I understand that an expansion and updating of the article is in progress and am happy to let that continue for a bit. But as of right now, encyclopedic notability has not been established. Until that changes I am restoring the notability tag. -Ad Orientem (talk) 15:50, 22 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Most of the sources are discussing Life-critical systems, whose notability is not in doubt, with only passing/trivial or run of the mill coverage of the club. I am starting to think this should be merged into that article. -Ad Orientem (talk) 21:53, 22 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Contested deletion[edit]

Contested deletion[edit]

This page should not be speedy deleted as an unambiguous copyright infringement, because there are significant parts and references that are not copyrighted. Only obviously copyrighted parts should be deleted and references should be retained for notability. This is a national organization in the United Kingdom that is the de facto professional body for safety-critical systems in the country. I suspect "copyrighted" parts are from the SCSC and they will have no objection to use on Wikipedia in any case. — Jonathan Bowen (talk) 15:05, 26 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The Safety-Critical Systems Club page is by no means a direct copy of http://scsc.org.uk/?opt=about (as it currently stands at least), so I do not believe that this is a valid reason for deleting it. Spot checks for a number of phrases do not match when I tried this. — Jonathan Bowen (talk) 15:29, 26 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
