Comments:

  1. The infobox is not propery formatted.
  2. The lead is a little short and may not adequately summarize the article.
  3. Some sentences sound poorly worded, such as "Today, drivers can follow the path of the Saginaw Trail starting with Woodward Avenue in Detroit north to Genesee Avenue in Saginaw." and " Just around the corner Comerica Park (home of the Detroit Tigers), and next door, Ford Field (home of the Detroit Lions) are west of Woodward Avenue between Adams and the I-75 freeway."
  4. There are several areas of uncited information in the article.
  5. There are several one and two sentence paragraphs.
  6. The Major intersections is missing several mileposts, these should be added in if known.
  7. A picture of the road would be nice to have in the article.

Due to thses issues, I do not feel that this article can be fixed up in a week. Therefore, I will have to fail it. It may be renominated when these issues are addressed. ---Dough4872 15:46, 4 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  1. Infoboxes are not part of the GA criteria. What about this one is not formatted correctly though?
  2. Expanding the lead need not take over a week.
  3. A proper copy edit by a third-party need not take over a week.
  4. Citations have been added. However, the GA criterion 2b only requires citations for "direct quotations, statistics, published opinion, counter-intuitive or controversial statements that are challenged or likely to be challenged, and contentious material relating to living persons—science-based articles should follow the scientific citation guidelines". Is the reviewer challenging any of the information presented in this article?
  5. Paragraphs can easily be combined.
  6. Mileposts added.
  7. Photographs are not a GA requirement.

When I first looked over the article, it looked like it had many violations with USRD standards. To clarify, the infobox does not list any major intersections or current route numbers. In addition, it dis not set for what state the road is in, even though this many not matter as this is not a numbered route. At first glance, the number of uncited statements and poor paragraoh strucutres appeared to make it look like the article would need more than a week to correct the issues. Here are the points I have concerns with:

  1. The sentence "Today, drivers can follow the path of the Saginaw Trail starting with Woodward Avenue in Detroit north to Genesee Avenue in Saginaw." sounds awkward.
  2. Is it necessary to have several subheaders in the history?
  3. The sentence "Tolls of one-half cent a mile were levied for every score of sheep or swine; for every score of "neat cattle," two cents a mile." is poorly structured.
  4. The sentence "Sixty years later in 1910, the leases expired, and the road was turned back over to state control, and all fees were lifted." should be reworded to "Sixty years later in 1910, the leases expired and the road was turned back over to state control, at which time all fees were lifted."
  5. "when the U.S. Highway System began": change "began" to "was created".
  6. "also carried US 23 as well" is wordy, remove either "also" or "as well".
  7. In the second paragraph of the State controls the road again section, there are several consecutive sentences that begin with "In 19xx". Can more variety in sentence structure be added?
  8. In the Wayne County section, "Woodward" sounds colloquial. Can "Woodward Avenue" be used instead?
  9. Can a different phrase be used instead of "next door"?
  10. Highland Park needs to be disambiguated.
  11. "In Grand Blanc Township, Warwick Hills Golf and Country Club, former home of the PGA's Buick Open, which has now been discontinued, is on Saginaw Road.": put "which has now been discontinued" in parentheses and remove commas before and after it.
  12. The Saginaw County section has several short sentences. Is there a way they can be made longer or combined?
