Notes regarding my additions[edit]

  • permission granted and welcomed by Tahir Shah
  • obtain death place
  • source travel in Arabia
  • need more reviews and date for Weekend Telegraph quote

EricT (talk) 11:08, 27 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • included in 'Shah family' category and redirects handled with thanks by Jayen466. EricT (talk) 11:18, 27 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • don't really like the Moore ref here, but not sure where else to find citeable mention of her husband studying medicine at Edinburgh. EricT (talk) 15:45, 27 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Infobox image[edit]

Tahir Shah sent me an image of his grandmother. The image was massive, so I've reduced it to around 25% of the original size.

I have emailed TS back with a permission request to use the image in the infobox at Saira Elizabeth Luiza Shah. He has replied to the email giving full consent. EricT (talk) 10:04, 20 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Not a good idea: I used one of the example permission emails (see WP example requests for permission), but have since been told that the author needs to fill out a specifically worded and unambiguous declaration of consent (see Commons email templates). So there will be a delay before the image is published at Commons and used in the article. EricT (talk) 17:35, 21 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
OTRS pending. Have uploaded the image to Wikimedia Commons, here and emailed permission including declaration of consent to Commons. Will publish when verified and approved. EricT (talk) 19:41, 26 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
With around 1500 images in the Commons OTRS pending queue and only 25 OTRS volunteers, there could well be a lengthy delay. EricT (talk) 11:56, 27 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Eric, I think it's fine to display the image in the article. One, the permission has been obtained and submitted, a fact that's noted on the Commons page, and two, it's often the squeaky wheel that gets the grease. ;-) Cheers, Jayen466 18:45, 28 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Wilco, Jayen :) EricT (talk) 18:47, 28 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Done Permission has been okayed. See Ticket#2008112610018461. EricT (talk) 10:53, 30 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Goodie. :-) Jayen466 16:42, 30 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Omar Ali Shah[edit]

The article says that she was the mother of Omar Ali Shah. Have you checked this fact? If so who with and how. --Wool Bridge (talk) 17:15, 2 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Moore (cited) mentions it. Am not aware of any source claiming otherwise. Cheers, Jayen466 18:06, 2 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Better to check it with the family, rather than an uninformed hostile outsider.
She is buried with husband Ikbal and son Idries, whom she mentions in My Khyber Marriage. Omar is buried separately, down the road in his own flashy tomb, I believe.
Also would it not be good to include her maiden name, Mackenzie? --Wool Bridge (talk) 23:00, 2 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

We may be in error giving her birthname as Morag Murray. I thought that was a pen name only. Jayen466 00:00, 3 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I've changed Louis (only attested online in Moore [1] and probably a typo) to Louise (attested in New York Times and Herald, [2]. Jayen466 11:09, 3 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
