(tumbleweed and crickets are heard)

You can't hear a tumbleweed. (Animedude 11:21, 2 August 2007 (UTC))[reply]
Actually, you can -- they make sort of a dry-branch rustling sound, under the wind. Not that Sakaki would know that. —Quasirandom 02:53, 3 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Somehow, I think Osaka might. (Animedude 12:26, 5 August 2007 (UTC))[reply]
Just as well this is Sakaki's article then. —Quasirandom (talk) 02:21, 25 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Usually talk isn't deleted but this section being irrelevant to anything deserves the axe I think. Sioraf (talk) 16:09, 12 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Sakakiportrait.jpg[edit]

Image:Sakakiportrait.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

This has been taken care of. —Quasirandom (talk) 14:26, 15 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Alternate reading of name[edit]

What's the source on her name being misread as 'oni'? This seems incorrect. There is apparently a kind of demon called a "sakaki-oni", but that's definitely not the same thing, and her name wouldn't be likely to have that connotation. Decken (talk) 23:43, 24 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Good question. I suspect we need someone with a kanji dictionary. Tho', the kanji they give in Oni (folklore) is 鬼, which looks nothing like 榊, I suspect you may be right to doubt it. I'm tagging it as dubious. —Quasirandom (talk) 02:26, 25 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
This dictionary lists sakaki as the only reading for that character, with no 'Chinese' or special readings. (And I can't find the character in a Chinese dictionary, so I suspect it's a Japanese creation. But that's somewhat unrelated.) Unfortunately, I don't have my nice dictionaries with me at the moment though. --Decken (talk) 16:19, 25 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm. Sounding more and more dubious all the time. Thanks. —Quasirandom (talk) 18:32, 25 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
