ying's notes

I think you should add some history, geographic (map) to show more location information about the language. Also, you did a great job on adding the grammar information of the language. However, it would be better if you add the writing system to the language. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Liying315 (talkcontribs) 21:27, 20 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Don't use lingua franca in your intro paragraph. its a niche word that not everyone will understand. Make a chart that has the vowels and consonants next to each other in the nouns section give an example of the suffix that you mention in the possession section you don't need "as mentioned previously" For the numerals I think you should a another column with numerals (1,2,3,etc) this way you can hit a more universal crowd. For the Particles section adjust the formatting to make it more apparent that each thing is something different. The bold makes it appear that they are more important than the subject head. I would suggest bullet points to show this. Also try to put some more examples in. Break downs of the sentences and how they are utilized in each. show where OVS is etc. I would also Add hyperlinks to other pages especially when you talk about transitive and intransitive verbs and also other complex linguistics terminology.

My own notes

[edit]

Stop using basically so much. Maybe introduce the numerals section a bit. Go fix your contractions. Watch out for words like really and very and just.

I would like some feedback on my lead. Maybe if I should take some things out or add somethings in. I just want to make sure I have the important information in there. In the lead add a quick section before the grammar talking about the endangerment of the language. Add sentence saying how many speakers. Reword fishing sentence to the most common occupation is fishing. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Amartin127 (talkcontribs) 20:39, 24 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Notes from Pierson

[edit]

I would maybe consider linking to the actual Saliba-Logea documentation project archive, if such a link is available.

Is the language "in danger" or endangered? (4th sentence)

"The Saliba people live their lives as fisherman" (3rd sentence) feels a little out of place. It sounds too informal for Wikipedia, and also I'm sure it isn't true that every member of their society is a fishermen. Maybe cut it entirely, or move it to a later section where you talk about their culture more in-depth.

I think it would be really helpful to make one of those IPA charts to display the vowels and consonants of the language. — Preceding unsigned comment added by TiMarkov (talkcontribs) 21:33, 20 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Examples could be easier to follow if they were separated from the paragraphs, like the ones in the vocabulary section. It could also help break up some of the paragraphs that look a bit heavy, similar to how the tables are used.

You could have some words link to their wikipedia page, for readers that might not be up to date on linguistics jargon.

A lot of the technical aspects of the language are covered, but most of the background can only be found in the introduction.

The sectioning of the article seems non-standard. Lots of the sections could be sub-sections of a bigger one, like how the verb, tense, adjective and noun sections could be part of a grammar section for specificity sake.

Remember to have each paragraph cited. Jpkulka (talk) 09:51, 22 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
