[Untitled][edit]

Sally Purcell is an important British poet.

She is already mentioned in other Wikipedia pages and deserves to be remembered.

I will try to continue to update this page as soon as possible and will contact her publisher and others who have known her to supply any missing biographical detail.

I hope that the nomination for speedy deletion will be removed immediately.

I have removed the speedy for the moment. --Fredrick day 14:54, 17 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your most gracious last-minute reprieve. It is sad that the life of a fine British poet such as Sally Purcell should be so speedily marked for immediate deletion in the first place.

Dear Frederick Day,

With the addition of the bibliography I think that we can safely say that the work and career of Sally Purcell merit inclusion in Wikipedia and that you should immediately lift remove the suggestion that her life was unimportant.

I never added that tag - feel free to remove it. someone might readd it, you need to find sources that speak about her importance. --Fredrick day 18:56, 17 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Returning to the notability question[edit]

This page was tagged as needing a copyedit; I've just given it one and removed several of the templates from the top. I've also Been Bold and taken out the notability tag. Purcell received obituaries in two major British broadsheets, which I'm inclined to read as evidence of her significance. Per WP:CREATIVE I have taken her translations as "significant" works - especially of the Cixous, since Purcell's was the first translation in English. Would be interested to hear what anyone thinks about this. Gonzonoir (talk) 09:36, 14 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
