"Dari"

[edit]

Can anyone tell my who is editing information on afghanistan and why do they write "Farsi/Parsi" as "Dari" when everyone who is afghan thinks that "Dari" is used as an insult against native "Farsi/Parsi" speakers and everyones from afghanistan calls the language Farsi/Parsi or Pasriwan or Farsiwan? 2A02:CE0:2001:31AD:5D31:FE40:B8DC:4AAC (talk) 07:31, 12 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

"Dari" is what the sources use. The English wp:COMMONNAME should be used on the English Wikipedia. "Persian" is the English name for Farsi. An English/Persian speaker, when speaking to a Persian speaker, wouldn't/shouldn't use the words "Persian" or "Dari". Unless they were teaching them English.

Most English speakers say "Italian language". The Italians say "lingua italiana". Americans are "Americane" or "Americani". Wrong? No. Adakiko (talk) 02:42, 23 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
