Comments moved from the article[edit]

I removed this from the article to move it here:

The heavy line shown on the "Grand Canyon Route" map above is incorrect for the San Francisco Chief, I don't know how to edit it out. The San Francisco Chief was unique from most Santa Fe transcontinental passenger trains as it ran on the "southern" main line. The southern main branched from the north main in Emporia Kansas. It passed through Harper & Kiowa Kansas, Alva and Shattuck Oklahoma, Amarillo TX, and Clovis New Mexico. It rejoined the northern main near Dalies New Mexico. The San Francisco Chief departed from a totally true "southern" main-line route by diverting through major urban areas like Wichita Kansas. It is unknown if it got to Wichita by going through Newton KS or if it went through Florence, Peabody, El Dorado & Augusta. There is some excellent video of the San Fransisco Chief in Amarillo TX on the DVD "Santa Fe Odyssey Volume 1" distributed by Green Frog Productions, LTD.

The San Francisco Chief article as it is written now is not very good. Somehow the train goes to Los Angeles? San Francisco? The San Francisco Chief's end points were Chicago Illinois and Richmond, California. And yes the map has nothing to do with the San Francisco Chief it is from a previous time and redundant to the time of the San Francisco Chief. The above paragraph about the San Francisco Chief's passage via the Southern route is appropriate and should be reworked into the article. --SSW9389 10:04, 31 October 2008 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by SSW9389 (talkcontribs)

I have substantially rewritten the article to address these and other problems. Mackensen (talk) 00:42, 4 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
