copyvio

After looking through the history of the article, I consider it unlikely to be a copy of the fan site; it looks more like the reverse is true (the fan site is an unattributed copy of the Wikipedia article). --cesarb 03:45, 31 August 2005 (UTC)

Source of the name "Sandara"

I googled "Kim Yushin" and "Sandara" in Korean and found a number of pages carrying both names. If someone out there understands Korean, please help verify the info in the main article's intro. Thanks. 202.128.36.37 00:53, 27 January 2007 (UTC)

Break-up

I added the break-up of relationship.

Untitled

"In December 2007, YG Entertainment's Yang Hyun Suk offered Park workshop classes in South Korea after seeing the ABS Documentary My Name Is Sandara Park. In March 2005, Park went ahead with the workshops, putting her career in the Philippines on hold." so she got the offer in dec 2007 and accepted it in march 2005? This makes no sense at all.

This article should not be even considered an encyclopedia article because it is very biased. Most of the info in this article is from this Sandara fan site: http://scq.sphosting.com/

Double Platinum=60,000 copies? I thought Platinum meant an artist sold at least a MILLION copies. <- different countries, different standards

  • This article is too opinionated to consider as a reliable source. Most statements sound like they come from a person's weblog. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 125.60.243.42 (talk) 16:16, 28 May 2008 (UTC)

Sandara Park is the best ambassador that Korea ever had to the Philippines. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 121.97.222.23 (talk) 10:56, 27 June 2008 (UTC)

Poorly written

This page needs major reconstruction. It's written like a Filipino Variety News program!

Hating Sandara and calling her a Korean ambassador (when she is not) is completely unnecessary. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.231.61.202 (talk) 11:10, 26 January 2009 (UTC)

Name of the Article Changed

Why was the name of this article Sandara Park changed to Park Dara? She was first known as Sandara Park and so here on Wikipedia, she should be known by that name in perpetuation. ~~ — Preceding unsigned comment added by Leeheonjin (talkcontribs) 13:28, 14 May 2012 (UTC)

If her birth name is Sandara Park, that's the way the article should be titled per WP:BIRTHNAME. Possibly Park Sandara, though given that Philippine name also uses the western system, I think Sandara Park is perfectly reasonable for a english audience. Evaders99 (talk) 02:09, 15 May 2012 (UTC)

Sandara may hold Filipino citizenship and should be identified as a 'Filipino' in this article

She lived in the Philippines for 9+ years which would mean that she would've held a Philippine citizenship by then. Therefore she also has a Filipino nationality. Please note that nationality and ethnicity are two entirely different things. Also see Philippine nationality law. So what do you guys think? 119.224.27.62 (talk) 11:52, 27 June 2012 (UTC)

It is possible for a foreigner to live in the Philippines for that long without ever acquiring Filipino citizenship by being a permanent resident through a long term stay visa or any other type of visa. She wasn't born to Filipino parents, nor had she elected Filipino citizenship through naturalization as per Philippine nationality law (if anyone finds a source that refutes this, feel free to add it in the article). So no, I don't think she has Filipino nationality/citizenship/ethnicity. Xeltran (talk) 14:23, 27 June 2012 (UTC)
Ok thank you for the response and explaining to me the long-term visa. My question is if she did happen to have Philippine citizenship, are we aloud to state that she is a 'South Korean-Filipino'? Or is the usage of 'Filipino' only for those who have ethnic descent/ethnicity? I just want to ask this since I have some doubts with the Philippine nationality law. 119.224.27.62 (talk) 22:06, 27 June 2012 (UTC)
If she decided to have Philippine citizenship through naturalization, then yes, we can say she is also a Filipino because she is a Filipino citizen. "Filipino" can refer to one's citizenship and ethnicity. Xeltran (talk) 08:16, 28 June 2012 (UTC)
Ok thanks! That's all I wanted to know.119.224.27.62 (talk) 11:55, 28 June 2012 (UTC)
You're welcome! :) Xeltran (talk) 12:19, 28 June 2012 (UTC)
There needs to be verification through reliable sources that the subject was naturalized in the Philippines to be called a "Filipino".--RightCowLeftCoast (talk) 20:20, 28 June 2012 (UTC)
Sandara is not the first foreigner who rose to fame while residing in the Philippines. Alex Compton was born here to U.S. parents, Grace Lee literally grew up in the country, and Tim Cone is a longtime resident, and Ateneo varsity player Kirk Long lived his entire life in the Philippines, yet they haven't relinquished their foreign citizenship. A foreigner residing in the country for more than 9 years doesn't automatically make one a Filipino citizen.
As for someone who is naturalized, it's OK for one to be referred as "old nationality"-Filipino, or better yet, "old nationality"-born Filipino. –HTD 15:38, 1 July 2012 (UTC)

Request Move

  • Park DaraSandara Park (move) – I'm thinking that the name of this article be changed back to Sandara Park. That is her birthname and it's confusing to fans/wiki users when the name Park Dara is used for this article of Dara. Also, it's more fitting as per WP:NCP. Tibbydibby (talk) 01:24, 7 August 2012 (UTC)

Removed some awards

Per prior consensus, I removed fan-run and non-notable awards (such as Allkpop). Shinyang-i (talk) 01:42, 21 December 2014 (UTC)

A new image

Hi, I would like to request for a recent picture of Sandara. The one presented here is from 2012 and it's already 2016. Can it be a nice looking one too? Kittykat407 (talk) 19:21, 8 January 2016 (UTC)

Nationality

So is she really Filipino, as her filing under Category:Filipino actors suggests? A distinction should be made between people living in the Philippines and people who are actually Filipino citizens.

I noticed that Dara's associated act does not include YG Family? Can someone explain why it was not included, based on my last edit and other 2NE1 members have? SkyHigher (talk) 08:59, 14 December 2020 (UTC)

– Sandara is not anymore in the Philippines and her WP:COMMONNAME is Dara. Dara (singer) should be a disambiguation page. Nicoleta’s WP:COMMONNAME is also Dara. Shwcz (talk) 13:42, 11 October 2022 (UTC)

  • Oppose as her social medias and her official website use the name Sandara Park. Examples: Twitter: [1] Official website:[2] Instagram: [3] Btspurplegalaxy 💬 🖊️ 15:57, 11 October 2022 (UTC)
  • Oppose per above and Dara is not her only common name. ɴᴋᴏɴ21 ❯❯❯ talk 17:47, 11 October 2022 (UTC)
  • Oppose 1st per above. But Support 2nd and 3rd. Does appear to be the Moldovan singer's common name. -- Necrothesp (talk) 12:26, 12 October 2022 (UTC)

Filipino language?

Which Filipino languages is Park fluent in? E A (talk) 20:22, 4 December 2019 (UTC)

From recorded appearances, it appears at least Filipino itself (based on Tagalog, with heavy English). Cheers, — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.181.32.32 (talk) 06:01, 15 January 2023 (UTC)
