Expansion[edit]

I'm expanding the article, giving more info on people ant stuff, and removing the link to the special page with all articles displaying pages starting at Sandra, since it connects with many pages that have nothing to do with Sandra. The Ogre 13:20, 15 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Runcorn! I must say I strongly disagree with you. The question is: how do you choose which people to place in the page? And the link to the special page with all articles displaying pages starting at Sandra is not a good one (go and see [1])), since it display a lot of other stuff (Sandy Mountains, Sandro, Sandy, Sandrine, Sands Key, Sands Township, Sandvinvatnet, Sandur faroe, Sandworms, Sandvika Station, Sandwich, etc...), repeated links, redirects and lots of other confusing things. Furthermore, it provides no indication of what those people are. So I'm going ahead with the expansion of this dab page, now more organized. Please do not reverted it. It's easy enough to distinguish which are the relevant Sandra articles. This is really quite contrary to Wikipedia usage, which is that articles about first names normally only list monarchs. Compare Michael. Yes, delete all the links.--Runcorn 21:35, 16 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Dispute resolution[edit]

Hello Runcorn. I still disagree with you. I find that the search page is not efficient. But I see that there is probably no way to adequatly resolve the dispute between us. So I'm following the steps of Wikipedia:Resolving disputes, namely, since it's only us two disputing, I'm requesting a Wikipedia:Third opinion. If this does not work, I shall go to Wikipedia:Mediation and Wikipedia:Arbitration Committee. I've place "Talk:Sandra - Disagreement about listing of people called Sandra or link to special page with all articles starting at Sand. 13:23, 17 April 2007 (UTC)" in the "Active disagreements" section of "Wikipedia:Third opinion". Looking at other articles/disambiguation pages for personal names, I would say that it is not the norm to list every notable person (i.e., every person with a WP article) with the name in question. The names listed, as a general rule, seem to be persons who are primarily known by the given name: rulers/royalty, saints; the use of the name as a place name; and the use of the name in popular culture. Ok. I'll abide with the opinions presented. But I must note, however, that at present this dab page serves pratically no function at all. Do you reaaly thing people looking for some Sandra will be satisfied with the choise between "Sandra, a German music group" and "SiSoftware Sandra, a benchmarking, information and diagnostic program for Windows PCs", beside 3 links to other dab pages (Sandrine, Sandro and Sandy)?
