Names of singers included on this site[edit]

User:Mr Snrub has added the name of Carl Tanner to the list of apprentices who have gone on to siginficant careers. However, Mr Tanner was not an apprentice, as Mr Snrubb acknoweldges.

Firstly: is it appropriate to leave the name in that section or to allow for the addition of others? (We might as well pop Kiri te Kanaawa and Flicka in there too...)

Secondly, if Mr Tanner is moved elsewhere, do we want a section of the artcile devoted to a potentially long list of singers who have appeared with this opera company??

Thoughts please. Vivaverdi 20:56, 23 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I've reverted the edit until a consensus on this issue is reached. Mr Snrub 21:05, 23 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Looks like he was an apprentice afterall.... Viva-Verdi 18:46, 18 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Photo of Santa Fe Opera[edit]

Solid rod stays support the roof of the Crosby Theater at the Santa Fe Opera.

I've uploaded this photo (taken by myself) of the Santa Fe Opera, with the idea that it could be used in the main article, perhaps adjacent to the table of contents. Comments anyone? Chyeburashka 04:26, 16 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This is a re-cropped version of the first photograph. Chyeburashka 00:42, 20 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I think that it would be nice to see a new version of this photo in bright sunlight (more typical of a summer day in Santa Fe!!). I'll be up there this summer leading backstage tours, so I'll take the camera along and upload one. Viva-Verdi 18:46, 18 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Feel free to replace the photo with a better one. BTW, when do the tickets get mailed out? I paid for a pair of series C tickets back in October and was told the tickets would be sent out after the New Year. Maybe we'll see you on one of the tours. Chyeburashka 01:34, 19 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I'll be at the opera today at 5:30 and I'll be sure to take my camera with me. Perhaps a more dynamic angle is in order, the roof is really the main feature of the opera-house today. --Kit.macallister (talk) 21:10, 2 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

How to recognize?[edit]

What is the best way to include in the article the fact that the Santa Fe Opera Festival is the premiere opera festival in the USA? 72.75.126.213 (talk) 01:03, 16 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Quite simple, really. Find a reliable source which states that fact and use it as a reference to justify the statement. I believe the 2012 "Festivals" issue of the UK magazine, Opera does say something like this. I'll take a look at my copy and add it if it does support that statement. Viva-Verdi (talk) 12:42, 16 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Well, maybe not so simple (to find a source, that is). The magazine noted above does not say that it is the "premiere opera festival", although it is mentioned in the editorial as one of the summer festival locations which are spectacular. Shall keep looking......Viva-Verdi (talk) 12:58, 16 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Viva-Verdi is right. You need a published source which is entirely independent of Santa Fe Opera to add something like that, although frankly, that kind of puffery is not really necessary, even of it could be referenced. And while I'm at it, 72.75.126, please stop adding the unreferenced assertion "Best in USA" to the notes for the Santa Fe Festival on List of opera festivals. And especially stop doing it with false edit summaries like this. Voceditenore (talk) 14:17, 16 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Today's Denver Post has an article that might be helpful as you can see here [1]. I will leave it to the three of you to determine if it can be worked into the article. On a different note the news that they are starting earlier was a bit sad - at least for someone who has been attending performances since 1975. It was wonderful to be tailgate dining while the (more often than not) glorious sunset was happening. Oh well I adjusted to the new roof and the addition of more seats meaning that they are too close together compared to the second house so I'm sure I will get used to this :-) MarnetteD | Talk 17:45, 17 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Festival of the year[edit]

Eleven years after the post above the SFO was named "Festival of the Year" at The International Opera Awards. Here is one of several references on the net. I'm not sure where would be a good place to mention it in the article and, sadly, Viva-Verdi is no longer around so I am posting this in the hopes that other editors might have an idea of what to do.
