Re-expanding Article[edit]

Following the July 17, 2021 acceptance of this article, I have re-expanded it to its original size with the full sources and text. This method was recommended by a senior editor to help streamline the acceptance process. All edits are supported by third-party sources and any changes made by other editors have remained un-reverted. Please feel welcome to point out anything that needs cleaning or removal.

Resubmitting after rejection[edit]

Thank you Curbon7 for your review of my draft. I have removed the offending sources/sections and hope it is now fully compliant.

Discovery of Previous Draft[edit]

Not sure if it counts toward this article's notability at all, but I discovered an AfC draft for this same topic which for some reason never got submitted. It focuses more on the Conservancy side of things, but still a noteworthy find, I think.

Places to add The Preserve upon article approval[edit]

Square miles[edit]

@Rosenbergwrite, you modified the sq mi calculation in this change here to 22.83 sq mi. Using an online calculator, I found that the Preserve's 20,000 acres is equal to 31.25 sq mi. Manhattan is 33.58 sq mi. Please clarify why you made the change. — btphelps (talk to me) (what I've done) 00:00, 3 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello @User:Btphelps, based on the infobox on the Manhattan Wikipedia article, the island's land area is 22.83 sq mi, and its water area is 10.76 sq mi, which total to 33.58 sq mi. Seeing as The Preserve is not an island and therefore doesn't have water area to compare against, I didn't think it made sense to include Manhattan's water area. This results in the "1.4x the land area" statement. If you believe this doesn't provide the reader with a clear sense of scale, please revert that edit. Still a fledgling editor, so I definitely defer to you. Thanks! — Rosenbergwrite (talk) 03:23, 3 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Looks good, thanks. Feel free to correct any errors I may have introduced. — btphelps (talk to me) (what I've done) 19:27, 3 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

"Country: Potrero Area" + More[edit]

Hello user:Btphelps, I noticed you added the country as 'Potrero Area' in the infobox. Perhaps I don't understand that field, but wouldn't that refer to what country the property is located within? That said, it's thrilling to see all the sources and information you were able to find for the article! I don't know if you're finished with your planned edits, but do you think the sections could be reorganized as follows, so that the chronology flows better?

Modern development

- Santa Lucia Preserve Company

- Early criticism

- Management

- Return on investment

- etc — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rosenbergwrite (talkcontribs) 22:25, 5 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Check the citation, that's what's named in the county report. Reorganize it if you want. — btphelps (talk to me) (what I've done) 22:11, 13 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

This article is an Advertisement[edit]

This article originated by a marketing employee of the Santa Lucia Preserve. It should be removed or significantly redacted. It does not meet Wikipedia standards. Tomrannosaurus (talk) 17:43, 15 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

It may have originated with an employee, but I spent considerable time adding balance, including critical and legal responses to the project, the high cost of housing, the lack of public access, environmental impact, history of the location, and related content, doubling the article size. I believe it's well balanced at this point. If you think there are sections that are too advertorial, please note them here. — btphelps (talk to me) (what I've done) 15:54, 16 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
