Classification

[edit]

I have no particular knowledge of this group other than watching the literature, but note that on molecular grounds, Cavalier-Smith et al., 2016 (doi:10.1016/j.ympev.2016.03.023) place Sappinia with Stenamoeba in the new family Stenamoebidae, order Thecamoebida, if anyone would like to update the classification here. Since the paper is quite an extensive revision of Amoebozoa there may well be other affected genera as well, which might be worth investigating - a bigger task than I can do at this time, but someone may wish to do so...
