Vance's earlier political efforts

[edit]

I have, shall we say, rather strong feelings about this person, so I probably shouldn't be editing this directly, but I do feel the article should mention that Vance first came to public attention as the face of a group called "Heartbeat of Homer" which despite the cute name was an extremely divisive group that wanted to recall three members of our City Council for supporting purely symbolic resolutions. It was a very ugly episode in Homer's recent history and she was right in the middle of it. The effort failed, and right after was when she ran for city council. As soon as that failed she announced her run for the state house. She managed to win by ignoring Homer, her home, and the biggest population center in her district, and focussing on the various unincorporated communities in the area. Some possible refs: [1] [2][3]. And now she's in the news again for promoting COVID conspiracy theories, to the point where our local hospital felt it had to respond. [4]. Beeblebrox (talk) 18:17, 16 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
She's quoted in this Washington Post article [5] as well, again regarding COVID restrictions. Beeblebrox (talk) 19:03, 18 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
