Copyedits to the DNB material[edit]

Adapting the DNB's theatrical articles can be a slog. I have done a fair bit (see edit summaries).

Placing the lists of roles into footnotes is the first major step. My view is that they contain encyclopedic information, but not such as should be inline. In other such articles this approach seems to work well enough, with a copy edit to the notes for format and to identify the plays as best can be.

Also, some material is just to be cut: e.g. the Assessment section was simply prolix in that Victorian style.

William West seems notable in his own right, and there are other references for him. So probably he should be split out into William West (actor). I have added an image. Charles Matthews (talk) 06:44, 19 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
