This article has many problems including violations of a Neutral Point of View. Many parts of the article seem to be written in the First Person Plural and seem to reflect opinions of someone, not facts.
It also has major formatting and spelling errors, and grammatical problems. NickP 15:56, 14 December 2005 (UTC)
The article is also factually wrong. Sentences such as "There are no trees on campus. This is because if there were trees, boys and girls would sit under the trees and talk, which is against Tamil Culture." are not true.
I understand the students of the college are anguished but presenting wrong information on wikipedia is not correct.
This article needs major revision and is plain wrong in a variety of places.
Information given on the Page is correct to my information(though the "english" used might have been "Polished" ), I had studied in that college for 4 years and what an misreable time that was emphasize was always on Discipline and not on Creativity or Invoking a thought process . anyways if the english is corrected and polished PLEASE publish it. ITS CORRECT.

Wrong Article
This article is being vandalised with wrong information by authorities of the college. If they have rules against certain things they may as well accept it, instead of trying to hide it from the general public.

Boy talks to girl in college, both are fined
Well the college is bullshit . Its just a single college of stupidity and nothing to do with tamil culture and the precent scenario is different
Quality standards, POV, vandalization
[edit]I certainly agree that people in Jeppair's colleges are being tortured, but you have to understand that Wikipedia is a global encyclopedia with higher standards. Please start a new article stating your claims (but this still violates the Wikipedia policy but not very much so as the main article). I will post "Cleanup" / "POV" / "vandalized" tags for this article sometime, to stop people from both sides from vandalizing. Its really good if you can start off "Private_College_Education_In_India" or something even with a POV but clearly state it.
I think many of the opinions stated in this article are quite hilarious. It is apparent that the person(s), that continue to revert to the biased and non-neutral version of this article has (have) issues to sort out themselves. I studied in this college myself, and accept the existence of many rather strange rules - and from what I can tell, every one of those rules was broken anyway. It appears that said person(s) were just unable to work around the system. Lets keep this article factual, and move the criticisms to a different article altogether.

I am student from this college sathyabama Deemed University. I agree with this article partially. Most of the statements that are given in this article are correct.. A year before the MESS hall for girls and boys has been divided. And even the class rooms for boys and girls in branches like Biotechnology ,Electronics & Communications have been seperated . I dont agree with all the statements in the article that say about the tamil culture, there is nothing to do with the tamil culture ; its only the college rules that make students irritated & insane. In my final year , when i was doing my project I went to college for taking some forms . Though I was about to finish my course .....the attender has taken away my cellular phone ( Using cellular phones and any other electronic items is strictly prohibited in the college & people found violating this rule will be viewed seriously). Though the artical over emphasizes about the rules and punishments I agree with the author of the article, its because I was a student of that college and even I experienced the stinging pain. I have seen many educational institutions in my life and this is the most disgusting institution i have ever come across . Let me give some incidents that happend in my college when i was as a student over there
1)My friend(male) was caught in the bath room(Gents bathroom) for humming songs .
2)(In the college Hostel....)I was locked in the room from 6:00 p.m to 12:00 a.m by the director and we were not given any food for that night. This punishment is for not studying in the STUDY HOURS which would span for only one hour 6:00 p.m to 7:00 p.m . Actually i was suffering from fever on that day. ( These are facts and the words are coming right from my woundeed heart....)......
3)In my final year while doing my project outside chennai, I had to go to college to get some signatures from my HOD . As i was travelling from Cochin to Chennai, i carried my mobile to the college (My luck was badly out that day) .Even though i was in my final year of my undergraduation, my mobile phone was taken away from me ,for using it in the campus on that day .And it is never returned. Ha ha ha ha......On the latest issue of sathyabama , I heard that our DYNAMIC juniors went on rampage and have thrashed the attender who took my mobile. I am very happy to hear that the attender who took my mobile was admitted in ICU for getting nice knocks from our DYNAMIC juniors . . Finally i wanna say that our college director is a big Bast_rd . -- I certainly agree. I personally know the plight of many of my friends in various colleges, but the ones you guys experience are quite torturous. Please consider starting a Wikipedia entry stating this (not only Sathyabama, but also the 200 or so "engineering colleges"),
This will really help bring things to perspective to people who are 1. not from chennai, india 2. who don't know the exact proceedings and the level of education in India. This would help clear the "bogus" image that Indian engineering colleges are all cutting-edge and promote free-thought.
the changes are alright... except that someone removed the links... added them again. they're just links. and they are related to the topic. you cant just delete them.
-- Yeah many of these things about the college is right. I have been a student myself and one of the things that was intolerable was the manhandling of students. I remember a case when one of my friend was slapped, kicked and dragged to the office hall based on a complaint by a girl. However when they reached the office, the girl told the people that it was the wrong guy. Well no apologies was made to the guy but surely there is scant regard for human values Srihari
the information about the college may be right but the disiplinary actions taken by the coll, is purely aimed at geting the students into the right line. as professionals the coll wants to inculcate certain dignity in to the students. ok not allowing girls and boys to talk with each other can be ridiculous ,but the dress code is absolutely necessary.
In my honest opinion...
Students from this college seem to turn out to be very dumb, and totally unprepared for a global workplace and academia. A dictatorial management makes students meek and stupid. They are afraid to ask questions, and ask the right questions. Today's world needs extroverted and smart people, those who can be independent and collaborate as a team, beyond gender. They need to be able to lead people and set examples. Unfortunately, Sathyabama produces the exact opposite kind of young people-Those who just cannot stand on their own legs, those who have a very narrow view of the world around them, and those who are completely spoon-fed. Even God cannot save this pathetic institution.
the only people who are in favor of a dress code are the ones who are so ugly that they need everyone else to dress the same way so that their ugliness stands out a little less. they hide behind the excues of "culture". if you are so cultured, wear a white dhoti with a white shirt and a white towel on your shoulder. and dont forget the dark glasses. come to college wearing that. and discipline is taught in school or at home by parents, not by universities. if the schools in tamil nadu are not good enough to teach kids discipline then let jeppiaar cleanse the state by targetting school children. why bother us?
a university is a place where great minds come together in a comfortable environment and put some of their great thoughts into action, not where bus-loads of students go everyday to get disciplined and put into the right line. this is why research and innovations take place more in places abroad and even the IITs here in india. man sathyabama must be renamed the "SATHYABAMA INSTITUTE OF DISCIPLINED I.T. PROFESSIONALS" because that is all you people can think about from your narrow perspective to life.

hi to the guy/gal who has written the above testimony for Sathybama engg coll/ Univ. i appriciate the effort taken by the person in order to bring out his OWN PERSONAL OPINION. Hear others too my friend. Wat exactly u know about the college and its Culture.. Students are not dumb here , i would say. Do u know guys who have studied here and flaged @ MIT ...? or guys getting @ UCAL Berkeley..? or @ IIMs , ISB..? Sathyabam provides the right Education . Ir might not be the best place for College life.... I would vouch safe for its support for the cause of education. I would rather say i U have studied well or avg , definitley the college wud have extended support to u .. other wise u are te looser pal.. i have passed out with good grades and my degree and collge is respected @ my work place...WE r extrovert and not a brat like u...
In fact so dumb that...
They can't even spell 'loser'. Well, what can you expect from someone who went to the college where the principal is famous for sentences like - “No ragging this college. Anybody rag we arrest the police”
"In my honest opinion...bla bla ..... X Y Z
In simple words I can say " Making ourselves a fool by paying money " No professionalism , No Culture , No Standards.. Its just a world of no basement..
-- The article is not neutral. Lines like 'Although these many criticisms have been loaded upon this university, the products of this university still continue to be an asset in their respective field. ' need to be backed with citations, and others like 'This University has created that magic in every outgoing student's heart. The alumni count itself proves that.' is both factually inaccurate and unnecessary.
Im marking this article with a bias tag. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 58.68.24.70 (talk) 07:48, 2 January 2008 (UTC)
Strike in Sathyabama
[edit]In 2006, there was a major agitation carried out by the students of Sathyabama University against the management. The strike was led by a few pre final year students who were concerned about the validation of there degrees following a notification by AICTE to all deemed universities. The issue came in light as back as in 2004 when the second year students of the first batch of Electronics and Telecommunication branch gave a written request to the Chancellor and Directors of the University to get AICTE approval. The qulality of intake for 2003-2007 batch was fairly good as many students were admitted through Central Counselling of AIEEE. The intended peaceful agitation started by some half dozen third students of the institution turned out into a major strike, resulting in large scale vandalisation of University's properties and resources. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 116.75.81.142 (talk) 21:05, 23 January 2009 (UTC)
