I read on a talk film that Milhisner and Whelan aren't coming back. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.168.120.131 (talk) 03:36, 30 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion

[edit]

Personally, I see no reason to delete this. Other seasons had articles at around this time, and there is already notable information given that a) Nasim Pedrad is leaving, and b) their will be a 40th Anniversary Special. Tholden28 (talk) 02:21, 10 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. There was a section like this for the old seasons too, and information is already coming out. Don't delete. Is good section. 50.58.161.60 (talk) 20:37, 23 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Why was this turned into a redirect? The person doing that is overzealous. Every other season of SNL had a page this early. There is a special that is known, Nasim has commented she won't be returning, and more information is going to start to come in now that we are a good part of the way through the summer. Blanking this page makes no sense. Maybe if it were unclear there was going to BE a 40th season, but that is not the case. HarmonymUpshaw (talk) 19:49, 7 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
The annoying part is that this was done without any discussion or debate... Tholden28 (talk) 04:00, 8 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
It is quite premature to have an article for a season this far away. There are only two pieces of notable information, which can be included in the list of episodes. The rest just says TBA. Most TV series do not have a season page until it is closer to when it starts. Maybe when more information comes in. But just because you think there were be more information coming in the coming months, that does warrant its own page. New information can be added to the season 40 section of the list of episodes page of SNL until there is enough info for its own page. SAJ (T) 12:44, 8 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Most other shows aren't in their 40th season. This show is a bigger deal than 'most other shows' and the fact that there is already a lot of information just a couple months after the last episode shared is a sign. Many people come to this page for information: a sign of notability. HarmonymUpshaw (talk) 14:52, 9 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Just because YOU think this show is a bigger deal than most does not mean it needs its own season page at this point. How is there a lot of information? Three things is not "a lot." SAJ (T) 23:22, 9 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I don't understand your position. You unilaterally decide that this is the first year that one of the longest running shows on TV doesn't need a Season page up until right before the show starts, because you don't see why people would want to read it? Googling Saturday Night Live Season 40, with Season 40 in quotes so you are only getting responses for that, gives you about 9,000 results. And this page is the top result. It's notable. Maybe other shows would have pages this early if journalists widely discussed their seasons in depth a few months before they began. This show is different. It's not my 'opinion.' I'm not asking you take -my- word for it. I'm pointing you towards the growing mountain of journalistic coverage. Which is an acceptable criteria here. HarmonymUpshaw (talk) 02:34, 10 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Even if season pages were made at this time on previous years, it either (a) does not mean it should have existed at that time or (b) had more information than there is for this season. There is nothing notable on this page except for three things. Even if lots of people are looking at this page, it does not mean they are getting anything useful from it. I just think this could be for now covered on the list of SNL episodes. The importance of the show does not have anything to do with whether this page should exist. It is based on information available, which is now very limited. This page can be recreated later once more details have arose. Right now the page is very barren. There is a lot of ”TBA"'s on the page. SAJ (T) 17:45, 11 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
As with everything that's been said, the full contents of this article currently resides at List of Saturday Night Live episodes#Season 40 because that information is about three sentences long. The rest contained "TBA" and "Status Unknown," which means "zero information." So I've redirected the article again. The argument that other seasons had pages at this point is not a good one because that just means policy wasn't enforced. Please recreate this article only when an official announcement has been made about the returning/departing cast, not periodic member-by-member updates. -- Wikipedical (talk) 18:21, 11 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I don't find that argument that 'policy hadn't been enforced as well' in the past convincing. Please point us to the link of the exact policy you are referring to. Does 'Jurassic World' currently have its own Wikipedia page? It does! But it doesn't come out for a whole year! Very little is known! You should go erase it. Or not. Maybe you should just leave these notable things up. HarmonymUpshaw (talk) 15:59, 15 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
That's absolutely apples and oranges. Jurassic World is an upcoming film that fully complies with the relevant guideline WP:NFF, as it has started production. Because it's in the future isn't the reason why this page shouldn't exist yet. It's because at the moment the upcoming season is just an idea. It hasn't started production, there's no premiere date, and there's little to no significant coverage in multiple reliable sources to warrant a page. -- Wikipedical (talk) 21:24, 15 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
This show blew up in the news yesterday and still tops entertainment section headlines so I think it warrants a page.75.168.125.150 (talk) 12:07, 16 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Robin Williams

[edit]

Someone keeps adding back in the death of Robin Williams. Now, unless he gets a dedication sometime this season, I don't really see how this is relevant. - Jasonbres (talk) 01:57, 3 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know who keeps deleting the entry for the SNL sports Spectacular under the specials section, but it is going to air based on every television listing out there. Nazopo (talk) 12:14, 24 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

In case you are wondering, it never actually aired. And anyways, it was a duplicate from last season. SAJ (T) 04:17, 11 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Specials

[edit]

Why was Christmas and thanksgiving specials deleted? edit comment says it was duplicates but with what? SwiftingSpeed (talk) 22:14, 7 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

They are both duplicate episodes from last season. SAJ (T) 04:17, 11 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Apparently a separate Saturday Night Live 40th Anniversary Special was created recently. I have since moved much of the detailed content from here over to there, as it is becoming long enough here to warrant a split. Zzyzx11 (talk) 07:28, 18 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

last sentence of the opening paragraph

[edit]

Didn't Hammond fill in for Don Pardo on a few other occasions too? Why do we need to mention this one, specific episode from Season 21? There's an episode from the 8th or 9th season that was clearly Joe Piscopo filling in for Pardo but there's no mention of that. Could it not just say "except for season 7"? There's no need for that little bit of trivia. --69.142.97.219 (talk) 18:39, 17 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
