SERA

Why is the Randy Corman SERA closed door meetings, legal litigation, missing deadlines, and factual negative information about him or SERA being erased? It is fact that the public has no direct power to stop this development, nor does it have any power to intervene. It is fact that SERA goes against all Sunshine Open Meeting laws. SERA is not well liked by the public. Take an opinion survey and you will see for yourself. Randy is a political payback appointment who is making a ton of cash for this project. His project has been ongoing since like 2000 and only recently in 2006 are vague plans being revealed to the public. And the public, including the borough council have no say in what Randy or SERA does.

The problem is that there is not a single source provided, especially for such inflamatory charges, and the changes read as if they are blatantly POV original research. If this information "is fact", all you need to do is to point to a valid source (or opinion survey) that confirms it. Amber deposit

As a former resident of Sayreville, I am aware that one of the greatest archeological amber deposits in the world is in Sayreville. This site has yielded pieces of amber that held prehistoric insects including the oldest moth & wasp ever documented. The amber is actually prehistoric tree sap that dripped onto insects and hardened over time around the creatures preserving them intact. I believe there were also some ant species found. The deposit is just off Main Street accross from the Main Street Townhouses where the new housing development is planned. I have been told that you can still find amber there today.

Many of the amber pieces are on display I think at the Museum of Natural History in NYC. Maybe someone more familiar with it might add this interesting information with supporting links to the Sayreville section.

Actually, they are geological amber deposits. I'm not aware of any archaeological finds (i.e., this material after use by humans). Although an "amber rush" occurred a few decades ago when some was found and publicized, its presence in the clay beds (in the Old Bridge Member of the Magothy Formation) just above the South Amboy Fire Clay has been known for more than a century. For example, it was reported in 1904 in the State Geologist's report Volume VI ("The Clays and Clay Industry of New Jersey," by Heinrich Reis and Henry B Kümmel assisted by George N. Knapp, p 174 (available from http://www.state.nj.us/dep/njgs/enviroed/freepubs.htm or http://www.archive.org/details/claysandclayind00knapgoog). Old Spye Inn, not sure it exists
