German Wikipedia

[edit]

Here is the Google translation of the German Wikipedia article on Schwarzwaldmädel. If anyone wants to use it, it gives the singing ranges of the various parts, although it translates Romer as "Roman" and Baberle as "Babbette", etc. It also has a synopsis. Premiere cast

[edit]

Besides Gustav Charlé as Römer, it seems that the original cast featured Steffi Walidt as Malwine (or possibly as Bärbele). Also, tenor Bernhard Bötel recorded several of the numbers with Walidt around that time, so he may have been in the premiere cast as well, as Richard. I can't really verify anything but Gustav Charlé at present, but I thought I'd mention these other two. In terms of conductor, it's highly possible that Jessel conducted the premiere himself.
