The Huhsz: thanks for the copyedit -- this is not an article that sees much traffic so it's great to have someone improve it. I would like to retain some way to contrast Carnell dropping the existing non-fiction features but adding one new non-fiction feature. Without something like a "though" it seems odd to say "Carnell dropped the non-fiction features and published a series of guest editorials": the reader ought to feel that the writer is aware that these two things are in opposition. Does it work with "instead"? Perhaps I overthink these things but I always feel that with "though" or "although" it introduces a (usually false) implication of causality. Yes, that does it -- thanks. It's not overthinking -- I think it's lazy writing to put in false comparisons, and I do have to edit them out of my own writing (or have someone else go through as you have done). As a child I read a lot of SF including stories and certainly authors from this magazine. The article tells an interesting story very economically and effectively.
