Co-founders of Common Ground[edit]

I don't know who clorox cowboy is, but looking at wikipedia it seems they are somehow interested in telling Brandon Darby's story. I co-founded Common Ground with Malik at the table in his kitchen while Darby went looking for Robert King. I know because I was there. Darby had NOTHING to do with the organizational analysis, creating the original idea, the programs or even doing the work. He and I DID go to New Orleans to find King, but Darby wanted to leave right after that. The first night when Malik gathered the residents on his street I asked them how we could help, and picking up garbage was the answer. Malik, Sharon, and I did it with no gloves and few bags into the late evening. Darby smoked cigarettes and stood around. I know because I was there. I wrote the first drafts of the organizations and brought them to Malik. Malik liked them. I didn't go to the media and toot my horn. I worked building an organziation from the from from the ground up to support people who were already marginalized to gain their footing again. Darby was not an architect in the idea, or design. Anyone who says otherwise is confused to say the least. I don't care what the media says. All of this will all come out in my book.

I have added Lisa Fithian, Kerul Dyer, Suncere Shakur and Emily Posner because while Darby was gone back to his life in the early formative weeks these are some of the people who helped establish the crucial foundations, underpinnings and relationships throughout New Orleans and the surrounding areas including : 7th ward, 9th ward,Algiers, Houma, Port Au Chen. these are also organizers who stayed for long periods of time and did the long time, behind the scenes work for literally months and years. They were there before him and after he left. They were decision makers and fundraisers.

There are many articles and many conflicting accounts of the origins as well as who ran the organization over the years. I don't just have an outside opinion. I also have nothing to lose or gain by Darby having credit, except it just isn't true. Or at the least it is no more true than all the other organziers who did more than him.

I have written about this many times and don't need to get into a argument with some anonymous internet person who keeps changing things on an entry about my life. I hope this begins to put this to rest. It seems like such a waste of everyone's time.

Improvements[edit]

I filled out sections to this Bio, but as a newby I am not positive that I got it right. I pulled some information from the Common Ground Collective entry. I was a volunteer with my school at the organziation Common Ground in New Orleans in the U.S. for a brief period in Nov.of 2005. They did great work. Notability[edit]

Made extensive clean ups and edits to 'wikify' it. Was the notability for removal , some form of vandalism from 'clorox cowboy' ? Ransdy (talk)

This Article needs expansion rather than deletion. Could you explain why you once before and now have said he does not meet the Wiki criteria. I looked at the pages then and now and in my opinion he seems to fill the guidelines. You seem to have been a part of Common Ground at sometime, and I was too. I see you built a page for 'Cream City Collective' which it seems ran into a similar issue, but you advocated for it's expansion. Could you clarify why this is different? From some of your past edits to this page and The Common Ground Collective page that you have some issues with former organizers or at the least focusing on negative aspects. I an not trying to be argumentative, I just want to know why? I am trying to be better at this wiki stuff. Sourcing[edit]

Are there any reliable, secondary sources that discuss Crow in depth apart from the NYT profile? (not user-generated blog posts, but reporting from an outlet with editorial oversight, say a professional publisher or newspaper/mag with editorial board) czar 05:56, 13 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

As I said before, WP:ATD-R doesn't apply; it's only for unsuitable topics. This is clearly a suitable topic. Whether or not it's notable enough for its own article is another issue. If you think it's not, you can always nominate for deletion. If you think it is but has sourcing problems, you can tag the article for better sources. Changing to a redirect would also stop people from realizing that there's actually an article there to improve unless they were really looking hard. --Deacon Vorbis (talk) 12:16, 26 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
AfD is only for deletion discussions. If no one is proposing deletion, and no one is, the next step is to find an alternative. Either you find sourcing or you merge/redirect to somewhere where it is already covered. And yes, the whole point of redirecting instead of stubbing is to not have an article, especially when the sourcing is inadequate.
