Scouting and Guiding in Nova Scotia is part of the Scouting WikiProject, an effort to build a comprehensive and detailed guide to Scouting and Guiding on the Wikipedia. This includes but is not limited to boy and girl organizations, WAGGGS and WOSM organizations as well as those not so affiliated, country and region-specific topics, and anything else related to Scouting. It has been proposed (not by me) that this article on a Scout Troop be merged here. Individual Scout Troops are rarely notable enough to have their own articles and this troop does not appear to be an exception. I therefore support the merge. However the article on the troop is extremely long, containing much material that is simply not appropriate for an encyclopedia article. A merge would have to be after this material is cut back to a single paragraph. I am starting this discussion and hope that more people will express their views below. There is already some discussion elsewhere at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Scouting/Archive 2011#4th Halifax Highland Scout Troop / Scots Highland Company.
Neutral at this time. I'm still thinking, but, I notice a large amount of primary source material in the article (for instance an interview mentioned as a source seems to have been conducted by the primary author of the article). It is interesting material but better suited as a full article for submission to a scholarly journal or a historical society journal. If we knew more about Scouting in general in Nova Scotia, we might have a better idea of this troop's position. --Erp (talk) 03:24, 11 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Support per nom, and will archive the information to ScoutWiki site. DiverScout (talk) 20:39, 11 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Support - Is there anyone who objects to the scaling down of the article? I stumbled across it on the new page patrol backlogs and, as it seems to be a while since the article was created, I was thinking of helping it out. --Skamecrazy123 (talk) 21:13, 7 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I have added a brief paragraph on the Troop on Scouting and Guiding in Nova Scotia and I do not think anything more can really be said. I suggest it be moved to the ScoutWiki and then made into a redirect. I am too busy on wikibreak currentlky in UK to do it. --Bduke(Discussion) 08:50, 8 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose merge or mention. The article does not demonstrate that the unit meets notability standards. ---— Gadget850 (Ed)talk 23:08, 23 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
This has not been resolved. The paragraph I added to Scouting and Guiding in Nova Scotia has stayed there. The notability concerns are still there. I propose to put this to AfD for deletion on my return home from holiday. --Bduke(Discussion) 20:35, 9 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
