Death date[edit]

We currently have 3 different death dates from seemingly Reliable Sources (Jan 9th from Military Archive, Jan 10th from Find A Grave, January 11th from New York Times Obituary). We're currently using January 10th in most places, but this seems dodgy. Does anybody know what should be done? Tlhslobus (talk) 17:31, 27 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The RTE archives for 10th January 1984 state: "On this day in 1984, it was announced that politician Seán MacEntee had died overnight." [1]. He may have died before midnight, therefore on the 9th, but I'd inclined to leave it at 10th for now. Spleodrach (talk) 19:09, 27 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, Spleodrach. I have since discovered there is also a source for the 12th. But thanks to a little help from non-Wikipedian friends, I now have 4 sources for the 9th (5 if you include the ambiguous RTE archive) so I'll shortly be adding them and changing it to the 9th (the rules are that we go with the preponderance of reliable sources when there's a conflict). Ok, he's is buried in Glasnevin Cemetery, I may try to find his grave and get the ultimate source! Spleodrach (talk) 19:07, 28 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I guess you can always try, though I'm not sure that a date on a gravestone would necessarily override the sources we now have, though it might make interesting work for Wikilawyers :) Tlhslobus (talk) 20:37, 28 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
