List of works[edit]

@Sorabino: Works by J. G. A. Pocock would seem to a precedent for splitting off the list of works into a separate Works of Sebastian Brock article. In that case, the works should probably be broken up by type or topic and not just listed chronologically (i.e., as in the other article). Srnec (talk) 23:14, 15 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Srnec: that would be a good solution, thanks. It seems that there are many articles of the same type, dedicated specifically to personal bibliographies of prominent authors. Sorabino (talk) 06:30, 16 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • I disagree. We have deleted such lists of publications of academics before. There's a big difference between, say, a novelist and an academic. Novels get read by a large public, so a bibliography of Stephen King is a useful entry in an encyclopedia. Academic works, be it books or articles, serve a much smaller public: if 1000 copies are sold of an academic book, it's a bestseller. There are other sites to publish an academic's output, but not WP. It is, however, customary to include a short list of the 3-5 most important works of an academic in their bio (using an objective criterion to determine which ones are "most important"). --Randykitty (talk) 09:35, 16 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Is J. G. A. Pocock an exception? Or should that article be AFD'd? Srnec (talk) 23:32, 16 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Should be AFD'd, I think, but I've currently no time. --Randykitty (talk) 11:50, 17 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
