Because kief (loose powdery trichomes) requires an ultra-low burning temperature, it is advisable to choose a smoking utensil with a narrow crater (ideal: 7/32-inch or 5.5-mm. diameter) to control air access and a mesh-40 screen nested at 3/16"/5 mm. depth to protect against drawing the very small kief particles down the channel. Handmade native instruments vary in crater diameter and it is to be hoped that someone can provide a photo of one with the correct tiny aperture as described above.
