Seriously? The Union forces were charged with capturing Petersburg, and failed to do it for three days before Lee got there with the Army of Northern Virginia, and lost almost three times as many men in the process; the casualty numbers are very similar to Fredericksburg, only worse for the Union than even that battle was. Plus, they had a massive numerical advantage even on the final day of the battle.
